“No moans or Groans! Fantastic holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

Well We went here on our honeymoon, we certainly had nothing to moan about.

Rooms were massive & very comfortable.

Restaurants catered for everyone, the ice cream bar done amazing ice cream coconut ice cream is amazing!!!

Also cocktails were also real good! Mojito's are some of the best I have tasted! also another recommendation is the Miami Vice ( this isn't on the menu) it is half strawberry daiquiri & half pina colada.

The staff are very helpful and can't do enough for you.

While staying at the Grand Sirenis we dealt with Carina ( First choice & Thompsons rep) we booked all our excursions with, who was super helpful and a top girl who will give you great advice about the area you are staying in.

All in all we had a great honeymoon & like we were recommended the hotel by friends we would also recommend this hotel to others.

Let me start with the bad bits , some of the buffet food occasionally not hot enough, the a/c in the buffets is not cold enough, the music around the main pool so loud you can't have a conversation, room service food always cold and unless you get up before 8am to get a sunbed poolside is impossible !
The staff stars ; Diego & Carlos at the pool bar . Charlie on entertainment , so enthusiastic ! (Get rid of Spaghetti on the team , he lets you guys down!)
The good bits; our room and all areas of the hotel were spotless . The a/c in our room was great. The grounds and outside areas are kept well manicured and tidy . The wildlife around the hotel is amazing, so what if the guests feed the occasional raccoon , where else could a Brit do this? The staff are all so hard working professional always smiling and friendly. There is always plenty to eat in the buffet, I take on board that it gets a bit boring after two weeks but it does wherever you go ,
not just here.
We tried a few gourmet restaurants , in my opinion the Japenese was the best. I would block book on arrival for your stay in order to get what you want.
The hard sell from the concierge regarding what can only be another term for time share is annoying and boring and has to be endured every time you converse. My advice is to this be really blunt and tell them you are not interested and it finally sinks in. The gourmet breakfast they invite you to doesn't take an hour , it's not a celebration of the hotel , it takes 4 hours of hard sell , please do not insult your guests.
Entertainment team around main pool need to turn music down and play something a bit more mainstream instead of dance music all the time , very boring !
Plenty of time to laze around, enjoyed a night out in Playa del Carmen and you must visit Chichen Itza
Fully recommend a taxi transfer to and from airport , as this hotel is 75 mins away.
Overall an enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: To avoid noise , keep away from main pool.

Just got back from mexico, what a place, from the start we were made to feel like we were the only ones there, the staff were very friendly, from the bar staff to the house keeping they always say hola and smile. Our room was done every day, All the walkways were being washed all the time, all 3 pools were good, and drink girls never stopped. You do have to get out early to get a sun bed, sorry to say it was the brits. The trips that Thomson do are very expensive but if your not sure about doing them yourself that's what you pay for. We just got cabs to where we wanted to go. you can barter with the cabs outside the hotel, but the cabs inside are all fixed price. Cobe temple is outstanding, as was Tulum beach, and the dolphins. The high spot for us was watching baby turtles coming up from the sand and making they way to the sea for the frist time, on the smaller beach on site. There are so many animals just walking around you feel like your in the forest. The food was very good, however the restaurants on site were ok but the men have to have they legs covered which we didn't know about so i had to buy long Trousers. All in all one of the best holidays we have had, many thanks to all the staff, we would go back to Srenis.

Room Tip: Our room was over looking the forest was great to wake up to the birds all singing

First the good bits. Great rooms, all the hotels, rooms, everywhere was kept spotlessly clean, all the staff were really friendly, the Tomson trips we did , the dolphins, Chitcen temple, sink holes, turtles were all brilliantly organised and were fantastic. And would we go back again yes we would.

A few annoying things were that although they gave you towels nearly every sun bed had towels on them by 7.00am and half were not used,so unless you get up before that you cannot lay by the pool although the beach had loads of beds, which is where we had to end up. Also there was a few people who pinched your towels which cost £20 each, so watch this. The restaurant breakfasts were really good but the lunch and evening meals only average and only luke warm. I also got bad food poisoning for two days and could not move. And just one last note the men will need long trousers for the speciality restaurants which you can book three a week, do so early as these get booked up really early. If you go you will have a great time, just make sure you find the microwave to heat the food up.

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Grand Sirenis, we booked a sea view room in the beach complex which was fantastic we had all the extras you could need including the Spa Bath and mini Bar, The cleaners came in every day and did a really good job.

A big improvement would be more seating in both lobby bars and some music / atmosphere this is the only common area apart from the nightly shows which can be very repetitive, also a Beach bar open during the evening to allow people to enjoy the lovely Sea views would be a good idea.

Overall we have a really good time the only down side was the difficulty we had booking some of the restaurants, both the Brazilian and Japanese were constantly fully booked which means we missed out on them even though other guests managed to visit them several times per week.

All the waitresses were very cheerful and happy to serve, which couldn't be said for the Male Bar staff who preferred to serve Spanish speakers first. "not impressed"
All the meals in the main dining hall felt rushed, the waiters were very quick to bring water to the table but Wine/Beer took a lot longer and we struggled to get a refill.

BE AWARE THERE IS CONSTANT HARD SELL ON GETTING YOU TO SIGN UP AS A PREMIUM MEMBER WHICH IS VERY TIRESOME. when booking we didn't expect this.

Room Tip: Sea View rooms a must, worth the extra.

We stayed at The Grand Sirenis Hotel and Spa for 2 weeks from 27th May to 12 June. After a long flight we landed and wete picked up swiftly and taken to our hotel. I have to say we were treat like royalty from the minute we arrived. Even at reception we had orange and champagne waiting for us with a cheery smile and a bright 'ola'. We were checked in efficiently told about our welcome meeting and our concierge which thete are on each floor so each floor is looked after perfectly. They call and ask you daily if there is anything you need or anything they can do for you a big thank you to 'eddie' and whisked off by golf cart buses to our room. The room was nicely done and cleaned to my high standards the bedding was spotless and towels were spotless. The dressing gowns provided however were in need of replacements and the some of the furniture could do with updating. But all in all the room served its purpose well. Lovely and spacious with a good sized bed an office area and seperate bathroom with a spa bath jacuzzi and seperate massage shower. You get shower gel cream shampoo and shower cap and if you use them they are replaced daily. Even the shower had shampoo and gel on the wall cannisters so you could leave these things behind no need to pack any at all. Towels are provided in the room and you get a good few also beach towels are provided and you get a credit style card and exchange at various areas for a towel. Dont lose it though or you get a charge for losing the card!! You have a frige in your room which is stocked daily with a 2lr water bottle Aand 10 cans of pop. Fanta coke sprite diet coke etc. Also a proper coffee maker in every room with an ice bucket which you can fill on each floor as there is an ice maker. Well the pools were all great and the beach was lovely. Always spare beds with cushioned beds which are comfortable. Could maybe do with some extra parasols as these were taken up. It is annoying even though stated in the hotel book in your room no beds are allowed to be saved this took place daily!!! Food was lovely at the normal buffet restaurants something for everyone and i mean everyone. Yet some people found things to be moaned about yet all i saw were staff trying to please in whatever way possible. You could try all the prepated foods or wait for whatever food you wanted from fresh . Breakfast was the best cereals fresh fruit cooked breakfasts eggs in whatever form breads hams cheeses etc. So much choice for all meals. Then the a la carte restaurants were lovely to. The japanese on being my favourite! Do try and visit them it is nice to get dressed up and have a beautiful meal with that someone special and all of them are in your all inclusive which i thought was fantastic as many other resorts charge for a la carte. There is a coffee shop also which has every type of coffee like a costa and this is included in your all inclusive. Other resorts anything more than a regular coffee you are charged. Also not forgetting a biscuit or cake. The whole resort is clean and tidy always someone about cleaning. I have to say my cleaner was thorough and was tipped daily as she was top notch 'MARIA' very polite and always did a new towel animal or person with petals and flowers. I was really touched by the added touches she did to our room to help make our stay memourable. I would not hesitate on coming back to this resort. My two and only things i did not like was the pretence that we were picked for a free massage and greek breakfast because it was the spas birthday. It takes 3 hours out your day. We thought we were having a breakfast and then a massage at the spa when it was them taking you around the resort showing you out of this world rooms and suites to get you to be a premium member. You are then sat in a office and given different scenarios of how to pay. We had no idea that thats what we were going for. We then got a ticket for a free massage at the spa but had to book it and then you got it. Which was perfect the spa was fantastic but would have prefered to be told the truth not a story to get us to go. The other thing was entertainment at night. The shows were neither here or there really. To have such a big arena and choose big shows to do then you need to follow it up with an out of this world performance. Grease and Lion king are such big shows and to just dance and mime to songs was a big let down. All in all this was a great holiday with just a few tiny faults that can be easily rectified but they did not spoil my holiday in any way. The lazy river is a must for adult and children alike. Xcaret was a fantastic day out with all inclusive meals and drinks and a night show which really was FANTASTIC. The Chichen itsa and sink hole trip was another day to remember but my fave was swimming with dolphins although the price for the dvd and pics were just ridiculous and you were not alliwed to take your own pics which was disappointing because who really has £150 to pay for photos and a disc. Which would have been £300 if there is two of you as you dont get pics of you together another ploy to make money!! Such a shame as i really wanted to show my girls what mummy and daddy had done on our holiday but i cant show them whats in my head. These creatures are just beautiful and it was lovely they were in their own habitat!! There are a few to choose from but the delphinis is the best. THIS IS A TRUE REVIEW NO PULLING WOOL OVER YOUR EYES. IWOULD GO BACK TOMORROW. THE FIRST HOLIDAY I NEVER NEEDED TO CLEAN THE ROOM MYSELF BEFORE UNPACKING!!! Well done Grand sirenis Hotel and Spa!

from the moment you get there the service is first class . The location is stunning only one and half hour trip from the airport so not too bad. the rooms are very spacious and the beds very comfortable and even though this is a huge resort everything is within walking distance though busses are provided. our room was near pool 3 where we spent most of our time the pool bar staff were excellent and waitress service was not biased even if you don't tip. victoriano the towel man for pool 3 was always cheerful and would laugh and joke with us at the end of the day.the beach was only a couple of minutes away and had 2 bars 1 served food and next to that 1 was a barbeque bar all food freshley cooked. the shows at night were outstanding for a holiday resort the animacion super team really were super, lion king was the best the waitress service in the thearte was good our waitress silvia was the most cheerful woman i have ever met.the alacarte restaurants were very good especially the mexican, brazilian and japanese and the buffet restaurant had something for everybody and the mexican theme night is brilliant made better by our waiter fernando . the concierges are brilliant ours Natalia and Jonathan made our holiday special anything you need if they can help they will and always have a smile and a hello every time you pass. the spa is very good would recommend the water treatments to anybody . All in all this is a brilliant hotel service 1st class and everybody is so friendly from the gardners ,cleaners and bar staff everyone as a smile and a hello for you and the towel art the cleaners leave you is brilliant.
