I spend a very nice time in there. Very nice service. Incredable food, drinks at the french restaurant. the steak house is very good and too the coffee shop. You feel very pleased. The poeple in the front desk are very kind and giving you a great service. Darian from the front desk was very helpfull and professional in his treat with us giving us a fast and proper answer everytime we needed his service at the front desk during our stance. I really recommend this hotel where ever i go.

The hotel is really good, but there is a lot of walking. The food however is terrible, never hot or replenished often have to wait for a table to be cleared and this is in low season!. On the second week of the holiday you could not find a sunbed people were reserving sunbeds at 3am!! a lot of the sunbeds on the beach are broken and some of the ones round the pool.

The music played around the pools is brain damaging. ear shattering club music, so if you want to relax avoid the pool at all costs.

Entertainment is in the theatre at night but there is nothing else to do if you don't fancy this, some is quite good but other shows are amateurish.

We stayed March 2-10 and loved every minute of it. It’s a very big resort but after 2 or 3 days we figured out the layout and found shortcuts. I would recommend staying in building 17 or 18 as they are the closest to the beach and a short walk to the main lobby where the lounges are. The room safe will cost you 350 pesos and the wifi is $40 US for the week per device.

My ratings:

Beach: 4/5

The beach is great but not huge. There are lots of beach chairs but you need to play the towel game to find anything with shade. Many people are out there for the 6 am sunrise so the shady spots are gone fast. Some people even claim spots the night before with their book or a rock (they get removed if I see them) which is ridiculous and not fair to everyone.

Pool: 5/5

There are a few pools to choose from. We were in building 17, so the pool by the El Rancho restaurant was the closest. It had a swim-up bar which was great and they also played good music throughout the day. The towel game is also played here so you need to get up really early to snag a shady spot.

Snorkeling: 5/5

The snorkeling is fantastic since the beach is in a cove and more protected from the wind. Go to the left side of the beach where the Mayan ruin is and head out a couple hundred metres past the ruin and you will see hundreds of neon coloured fish swimming all around you. I saw 5 or 6 turtles as well. I would recommend bringing your own gear like I did because they don’t give you flippers to use and you can only have the goggles/snorkel for an hour per day. If you’re a beginner I would suggest using a life jacket so you can just float around and go further out into the coral reef where all the fish are.

Room: 4/5

We stayed in a standard junior suite which was perfect for us. We had the musty smell like most people did but just crank up the A/C and turn the fan on and it clears up. The bathroom is not very private – there is an opening in the glass on the wall so a numero dos can be a little tricky. The cleaning lady will leave you 2 beers in the mini fridge and a fancy towel animal.

Food: 3/5

The buffet food is average. There is a lot of selection but most of it is cafeteria type food so you need to break it up with the a la carte restaurants. We did 4 of the a la cartes (Cajun, Steakhouse, Mexican, and Brazilian). Cajun – the food was average and the servers are creeps. The host was staring at my wife all night and our server asked our table if we were rich. He also got angry when I said no thanks to his 3rd glass of water. Avoid this restaurant. The Mexican and Steakhouse were good. I would give them both 4/5. By far, the best one was Brazilian. They serve you 7 different types of meat so if you’re a carnivore I would highly recommend going there.

Tips: Bring your own snorkel gear, try to stay in building 17 or 18, bring a bubba cup, and don’t drink the bottled Eviano water at Cancun airport – you will get the scoots like all 5 of us who drank it. Thankfully it was on our way back home.

We arrived at about 1:30 in the afternoon and we were only 6 people checking in but it took for ever about 45 minutes for each room...not sure why but the clerk kept disappearing and helping the other clerk...asked if we could get the "cold welcome drink" after the long drive.. he called someone and our room temperature fruit punch arrived!! YAY!!!! These's no bar on the top lobby level. The lobby is very white and glass..not very interesting but modern
We were taken to our room in the golf cart and the bell man was very nice to tell us points of interest as we drove and showed us how to work everything in the room...there are elevators so it was nicer than climbing 3 flights of stairs.

Now..its almost 3:30 and we are hungry and tired so we are off to hunt for food...The main buffet in the lobby was closed to get ready for supper and they directed us to the Cajun Restaurant by the main pool...we got there just in time to have the end of the lunch day "food"..
Im not going to comment on the food because its been beat to death. You either love it or hate it and there always something to fill your stomach..its up to you..after 12 all inclusive resorts across the carribean Ive had better and had worst...make up your own mind up...

What I would like to comment on....
The rooms were clean and large but they do have that awful open to the bedroom bathroom feature which I can't figures out WHY!
Small fridge stocked daily..they leave you a local beer that needs an opener..but don't give you an opener...took us 3 days to get one from our concierge...who by the way will also try get you to go on the time share scam tour.....FYI
The rooms have room darkening curtains...well half the window does
our bed had a feathered mattress pad which was nice...still hard but better
Wifi was $40 for each laptop but it was fast and even worked by the pool
they have a small coffee maker in the room but no tea...
the key operates the electicity and usually you can use one of your own cards to keep the power on but these have a chip in them and will charge you $20 if you lost it
They do provide robes but the ones we had were kiddy size..Im sure we could have exchanged them but what the heck
Lots of hot water and presure
We took a top floor...hate the high heeled disc dancers over me....and the rolling suitcases...
they provide an ice bucket but the ice machine never worked
we were to get a bottle of rum in our room but they left tequila..we returned it to the conciege 3 time but it kept coming back....
The pool was lovely..very very clean and the bar service was constant and fast...sometimes too fast..and they use large reuseable glasses which we havent seen before..
the towel game is played here but even at 9 oclock we found there were lots of good setting
We did walk the beach but there was alot of "stuff" in the water..seaweed and plastic stuff..but the water was clear and sand grainy..not powder
We took advantage of the $25 water spa...interesting....about 15 different water treatments like whirlpools showers....but they are building a dolphin prison right next door and you have to listen to the construction...guess thats why it was cheap..and the walk is about 15-20 minutes from the main lobby...wait for the trolley..they are very very slow but wait..
We tried the lazy river...two thing to remember...there are 2 size tubes..the clear ones are for bigger bums...and be careful of the rolled edge .....its very rough and we got a few scratches from it..but it was fun
The grounds are beautiful and well kept but be very careful walking, the interlocking brick are very uneven and we saw afew people take a tumble and fall...also the marble floors in the pool bathrooms are dangerous..lots of falls there and the staff don't seem to care...
lots of wild life around iguanas, raccoons cats....we watched a raccoon make his way from the third floor down one night with food from the garbage can
They have a girl in the lobby at night singing "karaoke" she was good but after a while would put you to sleep
The only take passos in the gift shop or you can charge to your room.

I must say in closing...the resort was lovely..we enjoyed ourselves, met some very nice people from all over, got away from the cold but Im not sure we'd go back...

.

Room Tip: we were in building 2800...the even numbers had water view...take a top floor

Literally just arrived back two hours ago from the Hotel Grand Sirenis. Arriving at the hotel it looks great. This place is so large there are buggys to take you everywhere if you want too, which isn't so bad....if you could find one. Our room stank of mould when we arrived and every time we returned to our room we had to open the patio door to clear the air. We had no teaspoon at all, despite asking every day for one from the room steward. In your room you have tea and coffee making facility's....that's provided you only want either one cup of tea each or one cup of coffee each. They would only give you two sachets of milk each day, so if you had a tea first thing in the morning and fancied one before bed....forget it. We called and waited nearly three hours. In then end we persisted by phoning every quarter of an hour...it worked. You need to get up at five o'clock if you want to get a towel on a sun bed, that's just around the pools or the beach, if you want to be near any of the bars. The food is not very good. Its the basics...chips, hot dogs, burgers, salad, fruit. The best place to eat at lunchtime is the beach bbq...fabulous. It may have 8 restaurants but you cant use them all. You have to use the basic "smash and grab cafe" and then you get to choose three restaurants out of the eight that are there, and then hope you can get a table at your choice. We choose the "Cajun"...dont bother. The "Steak House"....ate chicken there though after being told by everyone that the steaks are too tough to chew. Then by this time we had found a fabulous restaurant in Playa Del Carmen, so we got onto the "Collectivo" bus and went there to eat. We went to cancel our booking at the Italian Restaurant...just to be polite and thinking that maybe someone else could use the table...but the concierge was not impressed...telling us.."you cant cancel you must give more than 24 hours notice" ok what are they going to do about it...not a lot and off we went. The diving centre guys are very good, we went snorkelling with the guys and that was well worth it. Jet skis are a bit too pricey. The collectivo is a small shuttle bus that runs around every 10 minutes from the top front gate, this side of the road takes you to Playa Del Carmen and stops en route, and the other side takes you to Tulum, with stops en route. FAR TOO BIG, AND ITS A COMPLEX NOT A RESORT. So if you don't do independent your stuck. Price for Collectivo for two is 70 pesos one way....hand it over and get off. You get dropped off at 15th avenue, immediately behind you is 10th avenue and then you walk a bit further and get to the famous 5th avenue, where all the shops are. Cozueml across the water is fabulous..ferry costs 365 pesos each return.

Room Tip: room 2113 is great is you want to sunbathe in your room first thing in the morning, then find a bed...

We went there as part of a wedding group, we booked later so our rooms were as far away as possible from the rest of the people. This is not a bad thing unless you have to walk back to your room, (about a 10 minute walk one way to your room) shuttle service was poor.
Staff was friendly, pools were nice, loved the beach, we could snorkel out front saw lots of fish a few turtles. Property was to big, with out a better shuttle service.

Room Tip: Book al carte restaurants right away, or if there is just 2 people there is a good chance you can ge...
