Our first visit to the Grand Sirenis but we have been to Mexico many times. We stayed for 2 glorious weeks from March 28th - April 11th 2013. The only negative thing was having to leave. The food was great, the staff is wonderful. They are so friendly and accommadating. Our favortie waiter in the dining room was Jose Gonzalez. The rooms and grounds are kept very clean. We travelled with our 3 year old son, it is a great family resort. I would recommend this beautiful resort to family and friends.

Amazing holiday and lovely hotel, Really friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful grounds and so much wild life - my teenage children loved the iguanas, racoons, butterflies etc. So much choice with food and drinks. A la carte restaurants in particular very good. Snorkerlling very good right from the beach though sometimes a bit visibility hampered by rough sea.

Room Tip: upstairs less problems with insects!!

First time at sirens. Went with family for a 60th birthday party and had a great time. Beach is a mix of sand with rock outcroppings so it was good for swimming and snorkeling. First time we saw sea turtles snorkeling. Great bartenders at the swim up bar. Fun lazy river but almost always dumped my drink getting in the tube. Great free form pool with vegetation around it which was very nice but limited seating areas. The general restaurant food was quite good but the specialty restaurants weren't any better. Rooms are a little tired but clean. Overall a great vacation.

My friend &i have spent a fabulous 10 days at serenis. It's a lovely hotel in beautiful grounds with a great beach and excellent facilities. The staff were polite and helpful - we loved aqua aerobics, the animation team are great - a BIG thumbs up for Archie and Oscar.

Variety, variety, variety!! Enough choices in all areas to always be satisfied! Spent a week with my sisters, and from the moment we checked in we knew we had made a wise choice. We were offered an upgrade to ocean view at a minimal cost for a spectacular view. Room was ready an hour earlier than expected which was nice. The resort is large and spread out, but not too large where u r unable to walk everywhere. There is a mini bus service to take u around the resort but then u miss all the nooks and crannies of hidden pathways. Food--so many options that regardless if one place leaves a bad flavour in ur mouth, just move onto the next. Buffet is repetitive but with so many food selections ur daily meals don't have to be. As for a la carte, highly recommend Japanese, Brazilian, Cajun. Be hungry when dining in these places as the food amount is plentiful and delicious! Service- I found staff to be very quiet, not rude, just quiet. The beach bartenders were always so serious looking, taking drink orders quickly and moving along to the next order. They were efficient just lacked interest in socializing. Same for most bar staff at all bars. No entertainment from them at all. The señoras who take drink orders at the beach and pool are phenomenal. Friendly, social, efficient. They work extremely hard running around for 8hrs doing the dirty work that us vacationers would rather not do. These are the ladies who deserve the tips!! Overall, had a fantastic vacation and in the end one persons 2star can be another persons 5star, u make ur own experiences in the end, and from my personal experience I wud recommend this place and even go back.

Me and my girlfriend went for two weeks in December and the whole holiday was amazing there is different types of food for everyone. I'm really picky so the BBQ on the beach with beef and chicken burgers was amazing and also breakfast and evening meals have so much to choose from. Sergio was our room cleaner and kept the room glowing everyday and the fridge was always topped up. I would recommend this holiday to anyone families couples any age as there are really chilled out beach and pool areas and lively drinking pool areas if that's what your looking for. Great holiday enjoy

Just came back from 10 wonderful days. We travelled as a family ( 2 adults and a 4 year old child). Room is a fairly large size. Full bathroom with a great shower with power and cold and hot water all of the time... great jaccuzi tub, however does take a long time to fill it up. Our daughter after spending alot of time the pools, would just love to play again in the tub.. lol...
there is a lack of privacy as there is a huge 'V' shape hole from the tub to the general room area. There is a door glass door for the toilet and the shower, but still not very discret when you have to do your business if you know what I mean... but we dealt with it.

The resort itself, is great. We had a room facing the jungle in the 1700#s block. Very quiet et nice to see and throw bread to the racoon look a like animal... I forget what they are called. A short walk to the major pool and maybe a 10 minute walk to the beach, 10 minute walk to the lobby and most restaurants. A short 15 minute walk to the Spa ans well worth it.

The Beach: Great for snorkelers. saw some clown fish and other bright colored fish. The underwater fauna is the best. We did have some days were the water was sort of moving too much, therefore not the best to snorkel, but had some great days were the water was very calm and could see underwater very well. There is some rocks in the water, but can find a path to walk in without water shoes, and walk on very smooth sandy bottom. It is not the kind of beach where you can walk for miles and miles, but interesting as you can walk on the rocky side and find sea shells and hermits the crab and alot of dried corals etc...

There are 4 pools and also the lazy river to swim at. The main pool with the pool bar is great for all especially for those that like all the entertainment and is also great for kids as it is a multi levels of water deepness. There is the children aerea with a wadding pool. The 2nd pool, ususally very quiet, however smaller kids do not touch the bottom at anywhere in that pool, so it is for swimmers and those that wear life jackets to swim. Great for adults as it is quieter. The last pool is in the other part of the Sirenis hotel. Nice as well with multi levels and great for families with small children.

Restaurants... We did eat at the buffet and we always found something we liked, but it does become repetive, so thank god for the a la carte restaurants. You must try the Japanese, we had a fabulous meal. We also tried the Italian, which was ok...but our waiter was way to busy... plates were left empty on our table for a long time... even the manager did not clear our table... the Louisiana was good and at the steakhouse, had the best Filet mignon ever...

Spa... you must try the Hydro Therapy... realy relaxing and great price.. aprox. 20CAD for 1 hour and 30 minutes... A massage for 2 aprox. 1800 pesos... aprox. 150CAD. They have great massage therapists... you can have your massage in a private area on the beach or inside a private room.

If you get a room with a concierge, it is great... they make life easy to book your reservations at the a la carte restaurants. They will even reserve any spa treatments... they will also ask you to attend a breakfast to become a club member... you just have to declined and they are very nice about it... not too pushy, just pushy enough. If you attend, they will give most likely give you a gift...

The resort itself, is aprox. 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Cancun Airport. The closest town would be Playa del Carmen aprox a 40$ cab ride or smaller town of Akumal aprox. 15$cab ride.

We also visited Xel Ha for snorkling... great place for families... lots of activites for older kids / teens and adults. All inclusive park... all meals, all snorkling, towels and lockers included... a really nice day

All and all, I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family... we had a marvelous time.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 1600 - 1700 - 1800 are close to main pool and easy access to beach area. 2nd or 3rd le...
