“Sexico in Mexico :) Great Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Me and my boyfriend stayed in this holiday in July 2012 and had a great time....the staff couldnt do enough for you they were so friendly. Our room was amazing (although wasnt that impressed about the hole between the bedroom and bathroom) but it was definitely a 5star rating. We had little presents delivered to our room like bottles of tequila, bowls of fruit etc each day. There are 2 swim up bars, loads of pools, beach bar, private beach area which at one end you could chill and the other had music and entertainment. We were surprised because just when we thought that was everything each day there would be another little extra like shrimp bbq's on the beach etc. This is definitely a place for couples and families but I wouldnt say its for groups of males of females as the entertainment in the evening isnt too great. It always finished dead early so by the time youd got ready and went for dinner you'd missed everything. They had brilliant shows on every night for families and kids like Shrek, Cinderella etc... The food was amazing I got so fat lol... there isnt a point of the day where you cant go get something to eat. 2 main dining halls which done different theme nights and you are entitled to 3 ala carte menus for your stay. The beach bar does food, theres a midnight buffet, room service...you name it. If your booking any of the excursion make sure you find your thomas cook rep DO NOT book through the other excursion people as they are useless and we learnt that the hard way... If you book Coco Bongos you need Goldmember VIP seats dont get normal tickets or its like a cattle market. There are buggies that you can jump onto to get you around the resort too and you can also phone them to pick you up from your room as the resort is huge. There is a Discoteque which we went a few times its quite funny but not the busiest. You will see Iguanas and Lizards during the day and Racoons at night....amazing! Dont lose your beach card/towels as they will charge you 35pound to replace lol. We done 2 excursions Xel-ha and X-plor.... I loved X-plor you done zip liners, drove your own buggies, swam in lakes etc its man made but still very exciting. If you get a chance you should try a massage.... very relaxing and they do your room up beautiful with petals, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.... you might want to say that your on holiday celebrating something though to get access to better packages and deals..... honeymoon or anniversary.... not saying anything lol x

Had two weeks of pampering and drinking! The Hotel is wonderful, very friendly smiling staff everywhere you look! The entertainment staff were amazing! great fun and will remember Oscars' laugh for a longtime! The pool side waitresses were very friendly and were always bringing me drinks! :)
Coco Bongo is a must but ONLY through the entertainment staff and the VIP is the only way you will get a drink! Experience of a lifetime!
Dolphins was an experience we will remember for the rest of our lives, so friendly and they are having so much fun! BE prepared to pay for the pictures thou they are expensive but again when will you ge the chance!
The beach was lovely saw loads of fish in clear water!
Lazy River works well with a beer all the way round! (Did this alot!!!)
Would reccomend this hotel to anyone going away to Mexico! Def 4* maybe 5*
If you look hard enough you may find a few negatives but your on holiday dont stress, find a lounger near the bar and forget all your worries!!
Make sure you tip the staff they will look after you even more! 50peso every day worked for us!

Me and my wife had a weeks all inclusive from the 28th July - 4th Aug 2012. I can honestly say this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff at the Grand Sirenis were unbelievable! Helpful, and go above and beyond to make sure you're holiday their is amazing! We checked in quick, fast and within 15mins we were transported to our room 1601 by one of the bell boys with our cases and he even gave us a quick run around the resort to show us the quickest routes to the food halls and the main receptions.
The room itself was amazing with a hydro spa bath, walk in shower, king size bed, brilliant air conditioning and mini bar stocked daily which I found to be a nice touch. There was a problem with bugs like spiders and caterpillar looking things, but hey your in Mexico! It's hot everyone/thing likes to cool down, we just placed a towel in front of the door and this soon stopped the creepy crawlers! The buffets were excellent always a great variety and you also get 4 reservations to use at the el a carte restraunts which I highly recommend, we visited the steak house, cajaun and Brasilian restraunts which was the best of them all!
Anyone who has down rated the entertainment at the Grand Sirenis must of been at a completely different resort to me as I found it to be amazing, the Alice in Wonderland show was brilliant, the costumes unbelieveable and the dancing fantastic! Same through the week with Black light show and Chicago.
Private beaches were stunning, snorkelling amazing with all of the equipment free. The beach bars were great with food and drink readily available and beach BBQs going on daily!
Pools chilled out and relaxing but would advise getting you're towels down early as sometimes it was a struggle to get close to the pool. However entertainment by the pool side was thoughly enjoyable and for all ages with the staff again amazing, swim up bar 35*c what more could you possibly need!
We flew with Thomas Cook who were brilliant, Kat and Alfie the reps were very helpful and would sort out problems quickly for you which was good. Thomas cooks welcome meeting give you a good guide into the things to around Mexico and also organise trips directly from the hotel which is what we did when visiting the Fat Cat Catamaran a 4 hour boat ride with snorkelling and swimming with Turtles, fish on what is said to be the second biggest reef in the world, and if you're lucky like we were Wild dolphins swimming and jumping with the boat which was amazing!
All in all an amazing resort with lots of things to do this is why the resort is so big but this is great for midnight walks!
I must give special mentions to a few members of staff Maurio the check in receptionist who was brilliant and the last mention to LUIS the bar tender at the reception bar who was absolutely brilliant, funny, talkative and best of all a fresh drink ready ready and waiting just as you're finishing you're last! TOP BLOKE!

Family holiday for this year took us to the Grand Sirenis Resort near to Akumal in the Riviera Maya in Mexico. The resort is set within the mangrove area about one and a half hours by coach from Cancun airport which initially caused us some debate but after you get started away from the Airport the time does go in very quickly. Do not buy the anti mosquito bands from the Transfer rep as most people found that they were expensive and do not work. Take high factor deet repellent which you will need. On arrival at check in ask for an upper floor room and do not be afraid to go back and get a change if necessary. Some of the building on site sit less than 5 metres from the edge of the forest and are no good for sitting out of an evening. The rooms are large and spacious but have a strange intimate separation between bedroom and bathroom with only a partial glass panel in place. You have got to know the person you are with very well. The animation staff are very good and work very hard. Diego and the boys at the main pool swim up bar are so nice helpful and attentive that I could have sat there all day. The main lobby bars have limited seating and get very busy after dinner but having a glass of shampoo (local sparkling wine) before shower and dinner is very attractive. The food is fabulous with abundance of steak and fish at all restaurants freshly cooked in front of you. The a la carte selection always delivered with the exception being the Mediterranean. Our favourite was the Brazilian and the Cajun great meat and seafood. Having been to Rui Palaces in Playa Del Carmen, I was pleasantly surprised at what was on offer for the money at this resort. My advice is do not be afraid to complain. The staff will respond positively. The only other issue is the heat in the theatre which during evening show times gets very hot and opressive. They need some form of air con within.

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms advisable.

We had a great vacation and really enjoyed our stay. All of the staff and entertainment group were awesome. We've stayed at all inclusives before but this is the first time our teenage daughters have said that this is the one they want to come back too! Pick this reort and you'll have a great time. Everyone was fantastic!

Just back from another 2 week stay at this resort and i have to say it just gets better. Once again great service, great rooms, great setting, the list is endless. I think what this hotel gives more than any other along the Riviera Maya with Thomas Cook is value for money. I have to give a special mention to all the bell boys especially edgar, diego, antonio, orlando, ever and ismael as these guys are hust great and work tirelessly moving luage and carting lazy guests around who refuse to walk around. Also Didi at the pool provideed us with excellent service throughout our holiday. One thing that did let the resort down this year was the bar staff at the lobby bars. They didnt seem to be able to cope at busy times and seemed to serve whoever was infront of them rather than keeping tabs on whose been there the longest this is regardless of weather you tip or not. However this did not overshaddow a great holiday. This year we also visited Cenote - jardin del eden which is opposite the Barcelo resort 5 mins in a taxi away this cost 80 pesos per adult and 50 for children and is a great day once again value for money. Be aware that no alcahol can be consumed here and suncream is forbidden. this is because cenotes are natural fresh water pools and if you wear suncream it will contaminate the water and sit at the surface. i would highly recomend visiting here. Any questions feel free to drop me a line.

Room Tip: Building 10 or building 20. This keeps you close to a pool and not to far from the beach.
