“Absolutely amazing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013 via mobile

Absolutely amazing hotel. I've been to cancun before and stayed at Moon Palace, but this hotel is so much better I cannot understand the price difference!!! The staff work their socks off to make you feel welcome and everyone is so happy and helpful. The food is so vast there is something to suit everyone with a buffet from every continent at every meal time. The grounds are spotless and the rooms are clean, well decorated and comfortable. There are technically 5 hotels on the same complex and you can use any with different entertainment each night in everyone. There are golf buggies to take you around the grounds for free. You can easily access playa del Carmel from here, we paid 35 peso each way per person to get there in a collectivo which you catch on the main road. (That's about £2) don't catch taxi's!!! We also visited Tulum from here in the collectivo for 30 peso each way and it then costs 57 peso each entrance, don't pay for costly excursions you don't need and you can spend as long as you like there then. I can highly recommend the atv tour (buy from the hasienda) which takes you on quad bikes thru the jungle to a private cenote (underground lake) just don't forget your bug spray to frequently top up especially at the zoo bit!! Also don't miss EXPLOR it's amazing and great fun. You can snorkel at the beach on the hotel complex and see the same fish so don't pay extra and also the hotel has its own dolphins!! You can pay a little extra to swim with them, or just stand next to the pool for free and watch them. I hope you have as much fun as we did, I'd recommend this hotel to ANYONE going to Mexico :)

Collectively, my wife and I have been on over a dozen all-inclusive vacations and this one would rank up there as a solid choice. For the price, this resort can't be beat. I agree with many of the reviewers, as this is not necessarily a 5-start, but I'd give it a solid 4. This was the first all-inclusive we took with our 8-yr-old son and he loved it. Let me just say that the resort is HUGE! You share the grounds with the other resorts in the Grand Bahia complex which is nice because you get a huge choice of beaches, restaurants, shows, activities, etc. They have a nice mini-tram system that takes you practically anywhere around the resorts and our son loved taking them. If you're fairly in shape, you could also walk anywhere. The beaches were beautiful, although very rocky. Don't expect to swim around in the ocean like you would if you were staying in the Cancun hotel zone. Bring ocean shoes if you have them. The restaurant food was solid and the ala-cartes were really good...especially the Japanese hibachi restaurant. The rooms were nice, although our air conditioner made noise the entire time. I guess we could have called to complain but just decided to deal. We did have a problem with our safe, but after calling the front desk, someone came to fix it. The beds could be more comfortable but it wasn't that bad. I have to say that the staff is very accommodating. We didn't go to any of the shows, but did notice that there were tons of options and plenty to do at night. The fitness center was decent. Tons of pools to chose from and our son really like the water park. The location of the resort was close to the Tulum ruins. We took to Collectivo to the ruins for a day trip. Hoping on one of these buses only costs $3 per person one way. The ruins only cost about $5 a piece to enter. After the ruins, we went swimming in the ocean off the cliff of the ruins. A very affordable day trip if you're willing to do it on your own. Our son loved it. We paid for a private shuttle to/from the airport and we would suggest this. The ride takes about 90 minutes to/from the airport so the last thing we wanted was to have to stop at other hotels for shared riders. The service we used was USA Transfers. It was $135 R/T and you can pay online in advance. Very convenient. The resort staff coordinated kid games at the pool to keep them having fun. The bartenders poured good drinks and the wait staff was friendly. We did find a couple staff members a little snotty, but I think you'll find this anywhere, especially when you're at a resort this big with so many staff members. If you're on the fence, just do it! You'll be happy, as this resort complex offers so much to choose from.

Not the kind of resort a couple would go to spend quiet vacations, since this one is more oriented towards families. Overall good rooms, nice atmosphere, good buffet, a lot of "a la carte" restaurants (best: Arlequin, Le Gourmet). Pools are very good and for kids the water park is a nice touch. Have to give a special thanks to the Miniclub staff (Alejandra, Akari and Mariana), who were excellent, supported by the good Miniclub facilities.

Room Tip: If you have kids, choose one next to the Miniclub and the Water Park. It is also close to the main r...

Excellent holiday, beach great, room great, food quality was the best I've had. Excursions we did were Turtles and Cenotes, Xcaret, Tulum ruins (got taxi there ourselves) and Chichen Itza. All worth doing. Staff here were lovely especially Alfredo in coba buffet and Noemi in the lobby bar

This was our first time at Rivera Maya, so we decided to stay at G.B.P.C. After we read many good reviews, this will be short, because all the reviews cover everything. It is an amazing resort; excellent staff, beautiful location, very well maintained property, and a decent variety of food. We loved our stay, and we will definitely come back next year.

Room Tip: Get buildings 31A or B to 28 A or B for a short walk to the lobby and pool access.

We stayed for 10 days before flying onto the US to continue our holiday, and enjoyed ourselves, but we didn’t find this resort as good as some of the others we have stayed at in the same price range which is why I have rated this 4*.
The resort is very large and everywhere is very clean, the grounds are very impressive and lush with lots of wild life, rooms are comfortable and kept spotless by the maid so well worth leaving a daily tip for her.
As has been mentioned many times before the staff are all extremely very helpful and friendly, I must mention Elmo the barman in the Premier lobby, he pulls a fast beer and mixes great cocktails, the ladies who wait the tables are also very hard working and are very good @ making sure nobody is without a drink.
Another nice touch is the entertainment in these bars, if you don’t fancy the shows a very pleasant evening can be has listening to the groups sitting outside with a few beers.
Now the down side, to many mosquitoes, if you go out @ night without covering yourself in repellent and you will get bitten, the beach is not good, and very rocky in the sea, I must admit that @ the Coba section there is some decent bits but unless you want to get up @ 4.00am to join the leave the towel on the sun bed brigade forget it, and that is the same around the pools as well.
The buffet was fine and with a different selection of foods each evening, however some of the themed restaurants wasn’t very good, the food in the fish restaurant was not very nice, I had the prawns and they was just skinny little things with no flavour, the Mediterranean was no better, the steak I had was of very poor quality and only fit for soling your shoes with, very tough and gristly.
I’m pleased to say the food in La Gourmet and the Arlequinn was entirely different, the food was of great quality, well presented and what I was expecting in the other two restaurants and didn’t get!
Out of all fairness I have to say that the service in all 4 restaurants was extremely high with all the staff very helpful and polite.
Even with the dodgy bits we still had a great holiday so please make of my comments what you will.
