This is a great resort. I would only like to mention some things not covered in other reviews.
We booked with Apple Vacations and think that it is worth mentioning the perks you get booking through Apple. I do noy work for Apple and have booked with Apple to other resorts in the area and have not received these perks at any of those resorts.
You are able to book a non-stop transfer to and from the airport for an extra $30.00 per person. Since Bahia is the last resort stop, this can get you to the resort 60-90 minutes sooner than the standard bus. When you arrive, there is no waiting to check in and get to your room, because you did not arrive with a bus full of people all trying to do the same thing. Our plane arrived in Cancun at 8:30 p.m. and by the time we got our baggage and transportation located, it was 9:00p.m. With the non-stop service, we were at our lobby by 10:00 p.m. and checked in by 10:10 p.m. and on our way to the buffet to eat after a long flight. The buffet closes at 10:30, leaving you only a 24 hour snack bar to eat at. After we were finished eating, we passed back through the lobby on the way to our room and the other people on our flight were just walking into the lobby from the bus.
The reverse was true leaving the resort at 5:00 p.m. We arrived at the airport before the busses, had no line to wait in checking our baggage or going through customs.
Apple provided a basket of fresh fruit in our room upon arrival with apples, oranges, banannas, grapes and plums.
There was a 4th Special meal for Apple clients. It is a Barbeque by the pool/beach. They have one on Friday and on Sunday nights, depending when you arrive and leave. Ours was on Sunday night. There were tables of eight set up, so that you can meet and greet other Apple vacationers and make some friends for the week. They had a Mexican band and Flamingo dancers along with some adult games that you could win a Bahia T-shirt and Tequila. The food was great and the resort managers were there to meet and greet everyone.
We received a complimentary bottle of Tequila in our room along with another invitation for an afternoon cocktail gathering, which we did not attend.
We rode the collectivo's and found them very accomidating. I would reccomend to everyone to visit Akumal Public beach buy taking a collectivo for $2.00 per person. It is a short walk from the highway and there are some nice little shops on the way. Be sure to visit Turtle Bay Cafe. Akumal Beach is beautiful and I wish that someone would buy out Akumal Beach Resort and upgrade the rooms and service, for it is a wonderful location.
For $22.00 per person you can take take the Ferry from Playa del Carmen and discover the Island of Cozumal for a day. Beautiful ride over to Cozumal and back.
I would definately recccomend this resort and I would go back again!
