“great vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

It was such a relaxing vacation!
1) the facilities and my room were very clean
2) lots of chairs by the pools and at the beach
3) unlimited a la carte (8 restaurants) and no reservation is required except the Japanese and seafood one; foods were great!
4) great entertainment and activities

My husband and I stayed in room 5128 (building 51) at the end of April and we are already talking about going back next year. That building is so close to the beach and we love it. We also tried riffle shooting and archery at the resort which were fun. Would definitely recommend this resort to others : )

We went during April break for ten days with our four kids, ages 16, 15, 13 and 11, and another couple. Although not our first time to Mexico, this was our 1st time to a grand palladium resort, and it won't be our last!

We decided when we got there to upgrade to 2 jr suites as the standard rooms were to crowded for the 4 kids. The Jr suites and standard rooms are in different buildings so we upgraded our room also. There wasn't any available in the kentaneh so we moved to building 21 in the colonial section and absolutley loved it! Close to the pool and close to the lobby! We could sit on our balcony at night and hear music coming from 3 different places! Couldn't hear it inside the room so it didn't bother our sleep at all! Rooms were very clean and picked up daily and always had different towel art!

The staff here are absolutley amazing! They work very hard and long hours. Right from the second we arrived until we left we felt catered to in every way! Maybe it's because we smile and say hi, please and thank you for everything that they seemed genuinely happy and pleased to wait on us. We saw quite a few vacationers that had a hard time with this concept and didn't appear to smile at anything. I felt like telling them to lighten up and appreciate your beautiful surroundings and the beautiful people waiting on you hand and foot! I couldn't believe how rude some people were and how privileged they obviously think they are. The staff here, from the gardners to the management all deserve a thank you and a smile for all of their hard work! A little tip doesn't hurt anything either!

The Bell boys were very quick to handle our luggage and very pleasant to talk with! The POP staff is the best! My teenagers, especially my oldest son, spent quite a bit of time with them and had the best time because of them! Josue, Alberto, Aries, Luis, Saul, Ariadna, Carolina and Barbie are just a few of the awesome staff on the entertainment team! They work such long days but always had a smile on their faces and made such a difference in our kids trip! My kids absolutley loved Josue and Alberto the most! We had so much fun with them playing water polo, ping pong, or whatever activity was going on! Gabriella was our main pool side server and we nicknamed her "6 minutes" because she always joked that we had 6 minutes to finish our drinks and then she was bringing us 2 tequilas! She was a blast! There was another gentleman too, I didn't get his name, who was a pool side server also that deserves a shout out!

Anyone who travels with teenagers knows that if they aren't happy, nobody is happy! Fortunately for everyone we never heard "I'm bored" once! Between the pool activities, ping pong tournaments, nightly soccer games (major drawing point to this resort for the kids) and just the general atmosphere here, they were all happy! Which made mom and dad happy too! We never felt unsafe letting the kids go off on their own either, they loved going exploring!

Just a little tip for traveling with teens for an extended period of time.. Bring a travel size laundry soap, put dirty and stinky clothes in the bath tub, fill with hot water and turn on the jets! Rinse with the shower head after! Makes for a cleaner smelling room!

I won't bother going over the food, everyone's tastes are different so what I like isn't what everyone likes. Plus there are plenty of opinions in other reviews about every restaurant already, But i will say that we enjoyed everything there from the buffets to the a la cartes. Never had a bad meal and there was always plenty of choices! No one starved. One thing I want to mention that has nothing to do with food, was our youngest celebrated his birthday while we were there, and as we were getting seated at the hibachi table my husband mentioned this to the hostess and asked if they could just bring out a piece of cake at the end of the meal. .. Well they did more than that! They brought in the mariachi band and they sang happy birthday and completley made his whole day! They went above and beyond without us even asking!

Food was great, resort was great, sports center and soccer field were great, beach and pools were great and the staff was fabulous! We will return and try other palladium resorts as well, although I know my heart will always be in Mexico!

My husband and I stayed for one amazing week. The Mayan suites with the outdoor shower was fantastic! Buildings 34 & 35 are the closest to the beach. The free wifi signal was strong. The whole resort was very clean. We found all the employees to be very friendly and helpful. The food, especially at the buffet was fresh and displayed very nicely. There was a large variety avaiable to meet any fussy appetite. I even saw management checking the temperature of the cold meets! The pools were so large that we never felt crowded. There is a great kiddy pool area. The beach was lovely and the water bathtub warm. There were plenty of chairs avaiable. Swim shoes or sandels are a good idea to protect against the bits of exposed coral rock. Lots of walking on this resort but the shuttle cars are plentiful. There is a jungle-like feeling with the mangroves, birds and wildlife. We definitely plan on returning next year!

Room Tip: Mayan suites with the outdoor shower!! Buildings 34 & 35 are closest to the beach. Wifi worked...

We just recently got back from enjoying one week at the Grand Palladium Kantenah and we had a blast! We were a group of 8, four couples all in our mid twenties early thirties, and we were very pleased with our experience here! I'll just give a quick overview of the good and the bad..

Check-in was a bit of a lengthy process. The resort is huge and there's lots to go over so it took a while for them to go through the large amount of people that were checking in. But hey, the lobby bar is handy so we grabbed some margaritas and waited. I would say it took almost an hour.

They gave us a room with two double beds instead of the king size we requested. However, when we asked about a room change we were told we could switch rooms in a couple of days. Sounded fine to us! And we loved our room. It was clean, air conditioned, and the fridge was always full. We made sure to leave a little extra to ensure we always had plenty of Sol!

The food was great! The breakfast buffet was awesome and included all the typical breakfast fare (including mimosas!). We checked out the steakhouse, ribs and more, the tappenyaki, and the italian restaurants and they were all great! The only downside to these were the wait times after you order... It takes forever for the food to come out! So take advantage of the salad bar while you wait.

The grounds were gorgeous! There's wildlife everywhere and you can tell the resort takes pride in keeping as much of the natural landscape untouched. It's a pretty decent walk from our villa (48) to the beach/pool but we really enjoyed walking through the jungle pathways. It's also gorgeous at night!

The beach was amazing. Yes there was lots of seaweed, yes there were rocky areas, but nothing that made it unusable. Even with a group of 8 we were always able to find chairs in the sun, and we spent a lot of our time lounging on the beach and jumping in the waves.

The pool was also amazing! To be honest... It's a little deep. I can't complain because I feel it's what kept a lot of the kids out, but we were tippy toeing our way around with our drinks in the air most of the time. Gave us a lot of laughs actually! The guys at the swim up bar were super friendly and made sure we got our drinks as quickly as possible. And like the beach, we were always able to find loungers for our group!

Now really, the only thing that really bothered me was the bell boy service. Not that it's a big deal, but the resort is huge and makes it nearly impossible to move around your luggage yourself. When we called for someone to pick up our luggage when we switched rooms they never showed up. We tried calling again and no one answered. We finally had to carry all of our luggage down 4 flights of stairs and all the way to the lobby. . It was hot and we were not impressed. Once we got to the lobby, the bell boy appeared and rolled our luggage from the check-in desk, to the luggage holding area that was probably 20 feet away... We laughed about it for the rest of the trip.
Once it came time to check-out we called again... And again they never showed. This time 4 of us rolled our luggage to the lobby hoping we wouldn't miss our bus back to the airport! I think it just left a bad taste in my mouth since it was our last experience with the service and it left a little to be desired.

Overall though we had a blast! Drinks were always good, food was great, weather was amazing! We all agreed that we wouldn't hesitate to come back again, but we would stay longer next time so we could really see everything the resort has to offer!

Room Tip: The Kantenah section seemed to be the closest to the beach and pool areas

We have been vacationing at Playa/Riviera Maya many years now, and always had a great experience at all the resorts we stayed at. Grand Palladium unfortunately is a bit of disappointment.

It's not that it's a bad resort. It's just that we had such great experience before both at other Playa resorts as well as Grand Palladium Jamaica, we had high expectations for this resort. In fact we had such great experience at Grand Palladium Jamaica, we convinced 7 other families as well as my parents to come to this resort with us this time instead of one of the other resorts we stayed at the area before.

Our biggest disappointment came at check in. We had arranged for two standard rooms for us and our parents. The person at checkin told us that he was "upgrading" us to a suite close to the ocean. What he did not tell us until we asked, was that the upgrade was to combine both us and our parents into this one "suite". A suite that is one room with no privacy. And after we told him that we can't have no privacy, he still tried to push for us to go see the room. Really not sure why it even happened, just wasn't how we wanted to start our vacation.

Since we only booked standard rooms, we weren't expecting much, so what we found wasn't that much of a surprise. The screen door to the balcony was broken, there were some mold in the bathroom, and really hard pillows. We called the front desk and let them know, and they at least brought a couple of softer pillows. Even though we left handsome tips every day, our maid service was less than stella (except on this one day when a different person cleaned our room, much better attention to details then). Last couple of days of stay, we didn't even get enough bath towels for everyone.

The food was ok on average. The buffet lacked variety, even though they had themed nights. The ceviches were generally good, especially the octopus. The rest of the seafood was just average, especially the shrimps, they always seems to be a little over frozen and not thawed properly (thus the mushy texture). The meat is a hit and miss, some times really good, some times overcooked and dry. The people in our group who went to the themed restaurants thought most were unnecessarily slow service (3 hours for dinner was not how any of us wanted to spend our time), nor appreciated the 17 page survey at the end of the meal. In general, all agreed the Japanese themed one was the best one and worth visiting. We also enjoyed the whole fried fish at the seafood beach restaurant whenever we were on site for lunch.

The dive shop was also a bit disappointing. The actual dive guides are great and friendly, especially Matilda. But the front desk person just seems to always be annoyed that you are taking his time away from his texting.

The pool needs some patching in certain areas, the fountain sitting area had some broke tiles with sharp edges that I ended up cutting my feet the last day I was there. The swim up bar was great though, and the activity people at the resort was excellent. Good sports programs, and the women of our group loved the zumba/yoga activities. The beach volleyball court could use a bit more cleaning/sand, but otherwise there are always people/staff willing to run/join a game.

Families from our group that had young kids that went to the kids club all agreed that it's excellently run with great staff. Some of them were able to leave kids there happily all day and go on full day outing with us without any worries. The staff always kept the kids engaged and interested.

The beach is nice, with a good portion of it that's well cared for and cleared of rocks. One of the better beaches we had experienced in this area. They did have windsurfing/catamaran/etc. for guest use. Was not surprised we had basically red flag every day except one this time of the year, so didn't get to take any out.

The nighttime activities were pretty good. Very decent and engaging shows, and themed nights with activity for both adults and kids.

If we didn't come here with such great expectations, we would probably have enjoyed this resort more. As it really isn't a bad resort. In hind site, we also should have just booked ocean front suites for us and our parents like we usually do.

This was our first visit to the Grand Palladium. We stayed at Kantenah. We found the employees to be the best amenity of the resort. The ala carte restaurants were very good, while the buffets left something to be desired for dinner. There was a lot of the same thing every evening. The standard room was basic, clean and comfortable. The wildlife running around is fun to watch. The most irritating aspect was the accepted practice of saving cabanas and chairs on the beach by marking them with towels. Repeatedly we saw "saved" cabanas sit empty all day, which is not an exaggeration. I wondered how these people got around the $20 charge for not returning your towel day after day. And, there was no waitress on the beach. We did enjoy our stay. There just wasn't any WOW factor.

Room Tip: Get an upgrade over the standard room. They seemed to be much better.

I took my wife here last year for her 40th, it was the best holiday ever, the staff can't do enough for you, they are all like your best friends, very welcoming, the food and drink is second to none, there's plenty of choice for every one. We've just booked to go again nxt year, there's six of us this time, all very excited can't wait.
