“Maybe a bit too much?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Because I was attending a seminar I stayed 4 nights in this all inclusive resort. I am not used to this kind of places and I was quite surprised of the quantity of everything. The pools, the restaurants, personell everything was there in huge quantities.
Service is great, the rooms very large and very well equiped (jacuzzi).
The surroundings very beautiful and I liked the nature-theme very much. It is pure luxury to stay here.
The quality of the food is a little disappointing. Not too much taste, but a lot of choice!
I liked the fact that there is plenty of wildlife (raccoon, agouti, coati, iguana and birds) around.

The whole stay was very relaxing and a nice experience. But for me 4 nights was enough of all the abundance.

Room Tip: the buildings on the Riviera side from 54 to 60 have sea view.

Third trip to this area, first time staying at the Grand Palladium...VERY disappointing...Rooms weren't ready for approx 2 hrs from the promised time...Upgraded to rooms with small double beds, room not cleaned (called and was told it would be done, but no one ever showed), food at the buffets was average (after a couple of days it was boring as the menu never changed), SOME great staff, but often staff seemed to not want to wait on you in the bars and VERY few knew any English to communicate with. Front Desk staff not helpful. In room refrig was warm, so were the 4 beers and 4 pops they have in there. The resort is very spread out...so plan on doing alot of walking! And hope you can swim if you want a drink, as the pool is very deep around the swim up bar...no other way to get to it. From check in to check out...I was not impressed with this resort....

Room Tip: per their desk staff....you are not guaranteed any room (ex. queen bed, etc.)...you are only guarant...

Overall the resort looms nice and is very clean. Disappointing are the Rooms and service. We travelled for a wedding in february. We specifically requesting a king bed, but were provided with two doubles. When we asked for another room..they stated they were full, but try again tomorrow as apparently people were checking out. When I asked the next day..again they said try tomorrow. After the third request the check in person just became rude and pretty much ignored me. This same thing happened to at least 5 other couples on the trip. Besides the double beds, the comfort of the beds are also very poor and so are the pillows. Funny, for another $3 per pillow/ day, you can upgrade, yeah...talk about nickel and diming guests. Also, you can order an aromatherapy room spritz for $5 per spritz...ridiculous.
Service..ok but not great. Slow at the buffets and restaurants. One bartender actually refused to make us mojitos because it was to much work.
The resort is huge. Lots of selection of pools, food and bars.. Just be prepared for lots of walking.

Overall..ok, but will not be going back.

Stayed January 15th - January 29th 2013. Jason First Choice Rep very helpful and informative and not at all pushy, always available for queries. Our room in the Colonial, third floor, block 5, view above the treetops. Good viewing of all the cheeky birds, lower floor may have been more restrictive as very jungle like environment. Room clean and totally acceptable considering the time we spent in it. Slightly dated bathroom, maid kept rooms spotless with plenty of towels and coffee for the perculator. Layout of the gardens and hotels amazing incorporating mangrove swamps, walkways, swimming pools, restaurants, bars, sport and spa facilities, crocodile and flamingo enclosures, communal areas, theatres etc all well maintained and designed. Wildlife everywhere and in abunbdance. Very large complex with opportunities to walk or take the courtesy buggies or minature train. All public areas meticulously maintained and cleaned by staff whose ony goal appeared to be customer satisfaction. Restaurants fantastic, no need to book al-a-cartes, always managed to get in within an hour. Notices how supervisors constantly checked food for temperature and ensured tables were cleared and re-set speedily. Beach very clean, white sand and easy enough to get a sunbed same around the pools. Highly recommend hotels and complex - the very best holiday all in all that we have ever had!

Room Tip: Choose a high floor if you want to be above the trees.

Stayed at this resort for a wedding in February 2013. After a private transport from Cancun International, we arrived to the resort after about 1 hour transfer time.

Helpful bellboys who tag your cases and organise your golf buggy transport to your room once you check in.

Check in was nice and easy, usual forms to fill, passports, having your wristband put on etc...
'Victor' was very professional and courteous.

We stayed in villa 49 on the Colonial side. Our room was delightful, always clean and spacious.
All inclusive was fantastic.

Lots of bars, restaurants...choices choices.....

Each restaurant varies in terms of its services and food quality some brilliant some terrible. Chinese restaurant was awful, grill restaurant good food, buffet is ok too.

There is a night bellboy called 'Pedro' he works out of the Grand Riviera side. This guy was great, he will take you where ever you want in the resort whether it be to your door, from bar to bar or simply search and rescue from the vast pathways in the dark- amazing chap!
Always guaranteed to have the banter with the fellow Canadians and Americans!

On site wildlife is pleasant as well, iguanas, racoons all sorts of animals- makes you feel like your really in the tropics. Beach is lovely as well soft sand, beach bars are great one is even 24hour.

All in all a safe option in this part of Mexico, but there may be better out there....

Room Tip: If you can afford try upgrade from the Junior Suite to the next category room, very sweet.

This was a great place to go. One of the best holidays I ever had.
I am a fussy eater. The food was amazing! The fact you can choose from, all the restaurants was great. There was sometimes quite a queue for the italian. The cocktails were also amazing and if you do not have children there are two adults only pools. The sea views are beautiful.
The rooms are great and the minibar was free. There was some hair on the pillow and we did get locked out of our bathroom but someone came out to fix it fairly quickly.

We just spent a week at the Grand Palladium, staying in a Mayan suite in the colonial section of the resort. First, our room was great. The Mayan suite has an outdoor shower, which was excellent. Overall the room was very clean, with lots of marble furnishings.

Overall we liked the resort. The pools were nice (although cold this time of year), and the beach was clean. The booze flows freely. There is an abundance of wildlife on site. The place is large with a good amount of entertainment.

It seemed like there were some maintenance issues at the resort that were not addressed during our visit. For instance, the resort has a lot of wooden, raised walkways. In many places the wooden handrail was missing - broken, laying on the ground alongside of the walkway. There were exposed, rusty nails. It was like this for the full week of our visit. Caution tape existed, but my expectation is that a resort will quickly address issues like this.

Also, after a week, the buffet food becomes very repetitive. The al-a-cartes are good, but can be hard to get into. The thought of a buffet hamburger makes me a little sick to my stomach. Yuck.

Room Tip: If you get a Mayan suite, ask for a room on the upper level. The outdoor showers on the upper level...
