Our family (myself, wife, 2 children ages 13 and 11) stayed here for 3 nights in mid August. We stayed in a 2 bedroom ground floor unit right on the beachfront. The condo was very roomy for us, with a separate bed for each kid (eliminating arguing/Mom and Dad having to share a bed with a kid). There was a fully equipped kitchen and a 5 gallon bottle of water in a dispenser which really filled our needs. This unit provides great value for its location, but was definitely dated. The shower fixtures were jerry rigged and the shower floor was not particularly clean. We also found ants in the kitchen area, so we put any and all of our snack items in the fridge each day to prevent an ant invasion problem. The Half Moon beach was nice, but not as nice as the Akumal Bay next door. The location was great for us, as we made day trips to Tulum, Coba, Hidden Worlds and Playa del Carmen. It was great to have morning coffee watching the sunrise over the ocean, or to relax and have a beer before dinner while reclining on the beach chair. However, as mentioned this was not the Ritz Carlton or 4 Seasons. I think it works great for families on a budget that want to spend a few days in a nice beachfront location.
