Owner description: Upon arrival to our base in Akumal, you will be greeted by our team for check-in. Before departure, you will undergo a safety briefing and be introduced to your guides who will accompany you on the tour. Before leaving, you will be able to test-drive your ATV to make sure you are comfortable and familiar with the vehicle, and feel sure of yourself. Once everyone has given their "thumbs-up", were off! The tour departs Akumal and heads directly into the jungle over dirt roads and through rustic Mayan paths to our private nature reserve. You will get to ride over terrain that is challenging enough for even the most experienced riders, but easy enough for beginners to maneuver at their on pace. After riding for about 45 minutes, we arrive at our very own private nature reserve where we will visit pristine caverns.

“Awesome time playing in the mud!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

At first we were concerned where we were ending up at- literally off the beaten path! It was more then awesome. The only thing to make it over the top was if we got to see monkeys and other wildlife (iguanas don't count after the first one). Very cool ATV trip- rained before we left so it was extra muddy. Zip line into an open cenote was neat, but swimming in an underground cenote was the bomb!!!! Don't watch the movie "the decent" before tho! ;). We would definitely do this again and don't forget to bring an UNDERWATER camera for the cenote part.

“Zip/Snorkel/ATV”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Had an absolute blast doing this excursion. This was our second time to come back, and it's definitely better each time. I have to say my favorite part was swimming/snorkeling in the underground caves. No need to complain about the heat, once you step into the clear water underground it's beyond refreshing. Our tour guide was absolutely amazing! Fannie made sure everyone felt safe, understood the directions, and had a great time. I can't wait to go back and do it for a third time. If it happens to rain on the day of your planned excursion, don't fret, it's SO MUCH FUN driving on the ATV's after a good rain! See you next time!

“A great day in the sun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

This trip was just amazing all around. It was a small group of four of us. Two couples of honeymooners who had just met that morning. Demi and Moises were our tour guides along with the smiling photographer along the way. They were so helpful, knowledgeable and fun to be around. They kept us laughing throughout the morning. The whole trip was around 5 hours from when we were picked up at our resort, to be dropped off afterwards. Which to us was just about perfect. Me and my wife shared a 2-up four wheeler which was brand new and very comfortable, just a little hot on the drivers left leg. Haha. We rode for approximately 30 minutes to the first cenote. It was a whole in the ground approximately 150 foot around and around 12 foot deep. Crystal clear water lined with humongous boulders. We held on to the zipline going across the cenote and dropped into the water. It was just beautiful. Once we were finished there, we rode around 30 minutes away from there to an area that had ziplining, snorkeling and lunch all in one area. We snorkeled in to an underground cenote filled with stalagmites and stalagtites. We brought an underwater camera and took breathtaking photos of the cave and a few 4 inch catfish. When we were finished there, we walked to the ziplining area where we hit 3 different towers. Lots of climbing up steep stairs, but it was all worth it. The view from up there was indescribable. Once we were finished ziplining, the guides took us to a screened in area where they served us lunch, a great taco buffet. We purchased a CD full of photos that the smiling photographer took all day. It was $45, but the photos were so beautiful and well edited and we didn't want to forget anything from that day. I would strongly suggest this tour to anyone looking for a fun day.

“ATV and Snorkel Tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

The ATVs had just been replaced a couple of weeks prior and were new models - we thought they were pretty good and my husband and daughter got up to speeds of 60 which was great. Couple of criticisms of the route though - we had to negotiate a small section on the main highway which I didn't like, even though the guides were very good and made sure that everyone was safe negotiating the traffic. A large part of the route was a track running parallel to the main highway on one side with trees/bushes on the other - it was quite bumpy and be prepared to get muddy driving through puddles but great fun. We turned off into an eco-park where we stopped and saw monkeys (really cute and funny) parrots and other animals. Our guide led us to some caves which were very impressive with lots of stalegtites / stalegmites and the lighting on the underground lagoon was fascinating. On route the guides took lots of photos which we could buy on CD for approx. 50 USD. Then went to the beach at Akumel and got kitted out for snorkelling and out guides escorted us out to where we could see large turtles. The trip was well organised and was good to be in a small group with 10-12 others. ATV route a little disappointing and the trip was a little more expensive than at Punta Venado - but a different experience.

“ATV tour pretty fun.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

We did Jungle Jim's ATVs and enjoyed our trip. If it has rained be prepared to get muddy!
A lot of the riding is next to the highway on this dirt path that has bushes and trees on either side. In my boyfriends opinion "the atvs were a piece of junk." They maxed out at 40mph. The road is REALLY bumpy. Lots of potholes and rocks. I wish we could have stayed at the swimming hole longer. I felt really rushed there. It was fun though. I wish they had the times sorted by level of experience. 8:30 tour is for those who never rode an ATV. 12:30 tour is for those with little experience and 3:00 tour is for those who are advanced. It's really hard when there are many levels of experience in the group. Also, the 30 second explanation as to how to ride it was a little too quick for beginners. Again, everything just felt rushed.
The nature park was pretty neat as we got to see some animals. But we were rushed through that pretty quick as well. Would have rather skipped that and swam more.

$30 for a CD. The photographer was awesome!
