We went on Feb. 15th 2012 and we had a blast! We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. When we arrived in Akumal, they gave us a quick run through of how to work everything - the ATVs are semi-automatic so no clutch and there is even a gear for people (like me) who are shift retarded where you do not have to worry about shifting haha. I would suggest goggles/sunglasses and bandanas to cover your face because it was very dusty. We did have a couple sections that were on road/highway but other than that it was mostly through the trees and the terrain was awesome! Good for beginners or those who are experienced, We drove first to a nature reserve where we got to see spider monkeys, different kinds of birds, wild boars, some kind of deer, etc. We were then taken through a cave with stalactites and stalagmites and a beautiful lit up cenote. After we left, we took the ATVs to another open air freshwater cenote where we ziplined into the cenote - it was SO fun!
This tour was about 3-4 hours but it never felt rushed so we felt like it took more time than it actually did which was a good thing. They even provided water bottles for us, no snacks though so I would grab some if I were you. The group was also very small which was great and we were even split up halfway through so our group of 5 was alone at the cenote.
I highly recommend this company!
