Overall, this club is above average. But the management should take some actions against Oscar at the timeshare club. The way he harassed tourists are not acceptable. The club would get better grading except for this guy. In the state, we surely will have some legal actions against him. Happy Vacations.

We just got back from a week at the Viva Vallarta and I'm not one of those people that complain about everything. I went to this resort with an open and positive mind, but I was very dissapointed in a few things. First of all the timeshare people are so pushy they call your room at least once a day, and get mad if you dont go to one of their meetings. The second is the food, the buffet was pretty gross, the best food and service was at the snack bar. We rented a car from the resort and they charged us twice and also gave us a car with a flat tire and didnt take off any of the price for the inconveince. The staff was really nice except for a few of the women that work at the front desk. The food at the pizzeria was the best out of all three resturants. Portofino wasnt impressing, niether was the Mexican resturant. If you want some great food go to El Dorado they are about 10 minutes away and they have lobster and shrimp and it was the best meal we had while there. For the price we paid we were not taken care of like we should of been. I recommend the artist that is on the resort he paints with his fingernail and the art is spectacular, it brought tears to my eyes. I will not be going back to this resort, the pressure of the timeshare people was the biggest headache on its own. The most positive thing about our trip was meeting some really great people.

My family and I stayed at VIVA Vallarta last year in March. We actually enjoyed our stay there but I have to relate our experiences with the VIVA Vacation Resort Club. Once there, I gaurantee you will be harassed non-stop by their sales staff trying to sell you some vacation packages to VIVA. After enduring some very high pressure sales tactics, my wife and I decided to purchase one. The hook was the "Bonus Weeks" that was only supposed to cost $300US/week for the *whole family*. After being assured numerous times by "Oscar" the sales manager, that there where no additional charges, we plunked our very hard earned dollars down.

One year later, as we are trying to book our vacation there, we are now finding that we were misled and now, in addition to the $300US/week, there is a $315US per person charge for the All Inclusive. What we were told would cost us $300, is now going to cost us $1560US/week. This is what they call a "Bonus Week".

I am still waiting for a resolution to this fraudulent misrepresentation. In the meantime, I stress, STAY AWAY from the Vacation Club con artists.

i had no idea what to expect from club viva vallarta when i first heard of it. i was immediately amazed at the entrance of the hotel...beautifully decorated! it seemed like such a calm and peaceful hotel...but it also had it's nightlife with shows and pool activites. the location was perfect...although the beach was a little choppy. i loved every minute of my stay at viva vallarta. the staff was extremely nice and willing to help with anything. our rooms were excellent with a beautiful room and view...and the swimming pools were amazing..especially the adult pool that looks over the ocean. i love the idea of an all-inclusive resort..you have absolutley nothing to worry about...especially food and kids....and you can actually relax. i HIGHLY recommend this resort to families and even couples. you will have an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. even though its a little far from central puerto vallarta....it's in a private, seduced location that is absolutely breathtaking.

Just returned from 10 days at the Viva Vallarta. We really enjoyed our vacation. Their were 4 of us(2 couples)and all agree it was money well spent. The food was actually good and full of flavor. Didn't have the sense that it was "mystery meat". Drinks were ample and service prompt. Considering the staff was on a "no day off, hotel is full policy" we received great service. Pedro in the Mexican Specialty restaurant really won our hearts. If you bring one dollar bills and show a little appreciation you will be treated like royalty. Our room was nice and located in building #1. Actually the newest one and closest to the beach. Upgrading to a oceanview is worth the few extra dollars. The pools are nice and the adult relax pool has a great view. The beach I'd say was the biggest draw back. It was in the middle of a cove and there was very little breeze to cool you off. Seaweed that wrapped around your ankles when you wadded(they did clean it up constantly). Bring water shoes that won't pop off, there are rocks. No reason not to stay at the hotel. It was a Big Vacation for a great price. We also took the city bus into town. 45minutes to a hour away. It is about 2 dollars a person to get downtown and what a adventure. Have a great time!

We just returned from a week at Viva and had a great time. The resort was fine. Fabulous? No - but a GREAT value. We have stayed at a different all inclusive for each of the past three years and each place has its own positive and negative aspects. PROS - We found most of the staff very friendly. Sure a few weren't, but that can happen anywhere.
The excursions staff (specifically Pancho, Vicki and Victor) were fabulous. Spectacular View at the Relax Pool. The beach was fine. Our rooms were always cleaned. Any time we called housekeeping/services for anything, we usually had it within 30 minutes if not faster. Yes it is quite a walk to get around the resort, but we just planned our trips accordingly. The result was seeing the beautiful grounds. The drinks had plenty of alcohol. CONS - We didn't find the crowd boo-ing American's entirely comforting while at the Karaoke Bar (the staff provoked it). The disco was open to all ages (including young children). Food was not always available, there are pockets of time when you can't even buy any. They would run out of Dos Equis beer daily. The bees down at the relax pool. The room next to ours (not adjoining) was a smoker and evidently we shared air conditioning ducts.
Our room smelled like someone was smoking in there! There are no ATM's onsite or near the hotel (bring plenty of cash).

If you are looking for a great place to go to dinner off-site I would recommend El Dorado in Punta Mita. It was GREAT, we had wonderful grilled shrimp and lobster dinners. This was complemented with a beautiful view and great service.

I would definetly recommend Viva to someone if they were looking for a great deal on an all-inclusive.
