“First Four Seasons I would not return to. ”

Yes they have great staff (which is true of almost any good hotel in all of Mexico).

Where they fall short is in the layout of the whole resort. Set on approx. 50 acres, you literally need a golf cart to get anywhere or risk constantly looking behind you so one does not run you down. What this newly purchased by Bill Gates resort desperately needs is a guest friendly internal walking plan. We found it easiest to walk the beach vs. the roads.

Speaking of which, if you specify a beachside villa, avoid at all cost villa 1603. This villa (while right on the beach) is surrounded by a 30' hedge. You literally have no view of the water. In most of the other beachside villas they line up two rows of chairs in front of units due to the steep slope of the beach.

Not all is bad (although the spa is nowhere as nice as the St. Regis down the street), as if you like to swim there are more pools per acre than any other high end resort I have ever been at.

We went for a family trip. The service was awesome,and there were amazing views from the pool and beach. Every time we came out to the pool or beach, a waiter immediately came over and set up towels for us and brought bottled water. The rooms were somewhat average for the cost and dinner at the outdoor restaurant was just ok and very expensive. We love good food and don't mind paying more for a great meal, but I do expect a fantastic meal if the price is high! Breakfast was very good. We may go back if there is a good special just for the service and views.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms are definitely more breezy!

We went here for my husband's award trip through work.Beautiful views and great food.Breakfast was covered for us but beware it's $42 for the breakfast buffet. Everything else like drinks and lunch are priced like you would expect at a 5 star resort.Our room at the Oasis was a little noisy due to the lazy river being at our building and Andrea at the front desk was not very accommodating when we asked to change rooms.Otherwise staff was quite friendly.I got a massage at the spa which was great. Really nice gym. They have a lot of complimentary activities planned everyday - yoga on the rock, salsa lessons,etc.Great place but overpriced.

If I could I would give this resort 3.5 stars. There are very serious "flaws" some of which are not within the hotels control and some very good points. We went over March break. The ride from the airport took us about 45 minutes. The airport was swamped - it took us 2 hours tothet trough security and pick up our luggage. Given this, the resort hired car was expensive but it was worth it for not having to deal with taxis.

Check-in was easy and quick. We arrived at 5pm local time and our rooms were ready.

This resort is very breezy. This is not necessarily in FS's control and if it had been 35 degrees I would not have cared. But during March it is only about 27 degrees or so and with the strong breeze it often felt closer to 20 degrees or the high teens. This is something to keep in mind for March break. We had to wear longer sleeves on the beach at times especially when we were under the umbrellas. The strong breeze also made the tide very strong and this could be less safe for younger kids. The safety was compromised even more so by the fact that both beaches are very rocky (although the main beach had some swimable areas). This was not the ideal beach in my view and for a very pricey beach vacation you sometimes demand perfection in some key areas like the beach. We dd not get that here.

The service was exceptional and in accordance with FS standards. The staff was exceptional. They always said hello and gave out free sample non-alcoholic drinks and treats on the beach and always had complimenarty cold water bottles. This was consistent with other FS beach resorts we have been to.

The resort is in good shape and well maintained. The rooms were large but I would not say luxurious. The low flow toilets could be troublesome at times. We were on a higher floor and this was nice and private but we had a noisy family above us who liked to stay up late. You could hear the kids running around and banging doors at 11 pm which was not so nice. The linens and towels were the usual high quality stock however. The bathrooms were a good size with double sinks and a separate shower. l'Occitane toiletries were wonderful. There was always free water and fruit in our rooms. Housekeeping was great although made me feel a bit guilty - like a mother cleaning up after us (our room was always more organized and tidy after their visits). We were farther away from the beach and main area and in the first few days always got lost. Some nights we asked for a Golf cart ride but we were otherwise able to walk everywhere quite easily.

There is a well thought out layout at this resort with 3 great pools( one is for adults) and 2 distinct beach areas. The main beach is busier but closer to washrooms restaurants and activities. Beach service for towels does not start until 7:30 or so (later on the quiet beach in my view). There is little point in running out to "save" chairs as there are always plenty. The main beach is great given its proximity to all the "stuff" you need especially if you have kids. It is also sunnier I thought and the beach is less rocky. There are areas where kids can swim. The "side" beach or "quiet"beach is nice but much more shady ( and this is coming from someone who loves a shady beach). The strong breeze made it almost too chilly at times. There is less consistent service here on this quiet beach in my view but also still very good. There are also fewer beach chairs on this side of the beach. As I said however, there were always enough chairs on both beaches and always enough towels at all facilities. The lazy river was fun but a bit shady in spots and seemed to be over-run with many kids (as it should be) and loud parents floating around on the tubes adding alcohol to their slushies which are sold at the bar at this pool ( as it should not be perhaps). The lazy river was the warmest of the pools. The infinity pool was the nicest and had the best service all around.

The food at all 3 restaurants was not so good. This was a major flaw in my view. There were some good dishes but overall nothing we ate at any of them was really very good. We enjoy good food but are not "food snobs". We enjoy simple food cooked well. Here the fish and meat were always overdone and smothered in sauces. It was hard to get a simple properly grilled piece of fish ( just olive oil and seasoning and some lemon seemed too hard to manage for them) The best bets were always the things that were not cooked (or could not be over cooked) like salads and some tartars, the ceviche and desserts. Our kids stuck with eating hamburgers at lunch. We had some luck with the suhshi/credo/sashimi style appetizers and salads at dinner. The wonton tuna tacos and the moulton chocolate cake and passion fruit sorbet at Aramara were really great. The view at Bahia was spectacular but this was the most dissapointing of the restaurants and we just could not understand some of the great reviews. The guacamole and the fruit and veggie pico de gallo at the beach and the beet salad at Ketsi were also very good.

There were 4 or 5 shops on site and mostly sold very expensive clothes and beach wear. My an bought $50 dollar flip flops. There was one "food shop" but it was not filled with very many snacks and mostly sold specialty food products you might buy as gifts. The gelato here was okay but not great . At other resorts we have been to our kids have loved going to the "cantina" to pickup snacks or candies or other treats. This was not that sort of a store.

The food was also very expensive. Now you don't go to a FS resort if you can't afford it but I have to say that I felt this was one of the priciest resorts we have ever been to and the food just did not justify the charges. It is hard to swallow a $13 dollar espresso that is mediocre at best and harder still to pay over $350 for a mediocre dinner every night for 4 ( with appetizers, main courses for adults and kids, a glass of wine at most and the family sharing desserts). We did not drink very much at all (only a glass of wine with dinner) and had maybe 6-8 non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day as a family. We had breakfast at the buffet (which was good) and lunch at the beach. We ate at each of the restaurants and easily spent $900 on food every day. I would have been happy to do it for good food - even if was not amazing food. But unlike many other FS resorts where the food shines, this resort was a huge dissapointment in this area.

Would we return? Maybe but not during March - perhaps during a warmer month. And we might investigate other places to eat - especially for dinner.

Everything you read about this place is true. You half expect the staff to start singing "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast. Haha! Seriously though, incredible staff, unparalleled attention to detail, gorgeous property, gorgeous views from ANYWHERE on or within the property. The beaches and landscape are like Discovery Chanel's Planet Earth series with even more super HD than you can imagine. It doesn't look real even in person. You could hear all of the first time guests all week saying things like, " I can't believe this is real. It's so beautiful and perfect!". The food at the resort is incredible! I will say though, that we actually enjoyed the room service menu more...there are WAY more choices on it than at any of the other restaurants on the property...I don't know why there are so many menu items on the room service menu that aren't in any of the other restaurants. But, in any case, we LOVED our in room dining experience and everything on the menu costs the same or less than all the other options at the resort. Also, it was WONDERFUL to have them come in and set up our table on the balcony with a cloth and settings and everything! Perfect! We didn't do that until later in the week, and afterward, we wished we had done it sooner. Also, Tale of the Whale at the golf course was our favorite place to dine out! AMAZING views, super relaxed atmosphere, and you can watch the golfers practice at the range. Lulu was incredible and wonderful to us every time we were there. Most people don't realize it's one of the resort's restaurants so it's usually pretty quiet and peaceful. All you need to do is go to the lobby and they have a shuttle that comes every 10-15 min and takes people to and from there. One big recommendation my husband and I would both give are the coconut cream smoothies! They make them from fresh coconuts on the resort and they taste like toasted marshmallow and coconut heaven! We loved ordering them out on the beach. Perfection. I could go on and on, but really, this was the most incredible vacation we have ever had. Ever. In every way. We were treated like royalty, as are all the guests, and we were more relaxed for the 5 days we were there than the last vacation we had for 2 weeks in the Caribbean. Seriously. I can't say enough about this resort. Just go.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are incredible. We had several other friends with us with different rooms all over...

As usual, Four Seasons staff was friendly and attentive. The resort was in excellent condition too. The food was excellent! The only reason for 4 stars was a negative experience dining at Aramara. We ordered wine before our meal and it never arrived. After our meal was served, it eventually came but it basically ruined the meal. The staff was apologetic....some kind of mix up and they didn't charge us for the wine, but that didn't make up for it in my opinion. Excluding that experience, everything else was exceptional......this is an amazing resort and perfect for a February getaway if you need some sun (the weather was perfect). Stayed 2/22 - 2/28

This was our second year at Four Seasons Punta Mita. Debating going to same resort twice, but once you go you'll understand immediately and want to go back again!

Incredibly kid friendly - welcomed my son with bag of candy and his name written on bed in sponges he could play with in bath tub. Staff focused on getting to know our son and called him spiderman where ever we went. Great kids activities from feeding iganuas, crab hunting to paper mache. Kids and adults enjoyed free snow cones and ice cream cones each afternoon at the pool.

Wonderful and consistent staff. Same employees at beach, in restuarants and conceirege, year after year - makes you feel at home and that you can trust their recommendations. Highly recommend cultural lectures by Enrique at 5pm daily on Tequila, Mole, Chocolate, etc.

Beautiful resort. Imaculately maintained, goregeous views.

Room Tip: If you're going with a family, don't upgrade for a view- you'll spend your days at pool...
