“St. Regis Punta Mita”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2012

We brought our entire family to the St. Regis Punta Mita for our Christmas vacation from 12-25 to 1-1. We have traveled many places and stayed at the best hotels including Four Seasons Bora Bora, Sandy Lane in Barbados and others. The St. Regis Punta Mita by far exceeded everywhere we have stayed in almost every way. The rooms were amazing; very spacious and beautifully appointed and really more like a private casita than a hotel room. The setting was just perfect. We were told that the hotel was sold out for the holidays yet it never seemed crowded. You could always get a seat at the pool or the beach or any of the restaurants without waiting. We were waited on hand and foot and the staff was on top of every detail. We celebrated New Year's Eve at the resort and it was beyond our expectations with a huge fireworks display at midnight to top it all off. We'd like to mention a few of the staff members specifically that went that extra step to make things perfect; David and Cesar our beach attendants, Erick the concierge who happily arranged excursions and dinner reservations and much more. Our butlers Carlos and Cassiday were also fantastic. The atmosphere is elegant yet laid back, not pretentious at all. The hotel restaurants were all excellent but if you go into Punta Mita definitely try Si Senor's. We ate at six restaurants in town and found Si Senor's to be the best by far.
Thanks again to everyone at the St. Regis for a wonderful vacation!

We had a wonderful time! The Staff were really very gracious.. I know that is not a word usually used for hotel staff.. but that is how they ALL were! Abel is an amazing young man.. going to school and working as a Pool Butler.. always going out of his way to please.. as were all the staff.. We were invited to the hotels Yearly Staff Awards Party.. It was an Wonderful time. We came away with a feeling of being part of a family because everyone at the the St Regis works together as a family. Carl Emberson, General Manager at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort is a very gracious man,he is highly regarded by his staff, and he has a great sense of humor too!
The garden shower was too much fun! the bed was perfect, the view from our porch was lovely, the morning cappuchino was perfecto,
as were the grouper fish tacos on the beach with the fresh fresh chivichie! one day a week the chef lays out the days fresh catch and you can pick out your fish and have it for dinner! That is what I call Fresh Catch!
All in all we had a wonderful time at the St Regis and plan to return!
ohh.. Did I mention mindite dips in the jucussi and swims in the infinity pools under the infinite starry sky.... was just perfecto!!!!

In our experience the attentiveness and graciousness of the staff throughout the property really fits the setting and location. Beautiful beach and views are coupled with an upscale hacienda type atmoshere. It really works. I think a lot of the credit goes to the general manager who in my traveling experience really has a pulse on the property. They can't do enough for you. Even with a large group the service is consistent yet unobtrusive and will go out of their way to give you what you are looking for. We are going again.

Room Tip: I loved our ocean view and would recommend it.

The St. Regis Punta Mita is a must see! The resort is beautiful and perfection! The natural beauty of the beach and the well cared for grounds are breathtaking. There are several beautiful pools on the property. The rooms are very pretty and comfortable with indoor and outdoor showers! The staff are warm, welcoming and friendly. The resort has an excellent spa and wonderful restaurants. The location is great and Puerta Vallarta is fun to explore. Overall, a truly wonderful experience!

In the weeks leading up to our trip, I studied the St. Regis Punta Mita website almost daily looking at the beautiful pictures of the resort and counting the hours until we departed. Upon arrival I realized that this is one of the few hotels I've ever been to that is just as - or more! - beautiful in reality than in the promotional pictures. You truly feel like the Starwood pictures have come to life...truth in advertising here! It's as elegant, lush and beautiful as expected. We stayed on SPG points and were, I imagine, in the "base rate" room: and it was amazing. A little casita with private patio and lawn. Terra Cotta tile floor. Huge closet. Fabulous gigantic bathroom and outdoor shower. Great TV. Blackout shades and great bed = great sleep.

Another aspect of note: we were on a vacation without our toddler and it was important to us to have a quiet, relaxing, "kid-free" vacation. That was very much accomplished, but at the same time, I realized what a great resort this would be for families. There is an "adult" pool and a "family pool" and a general pool which sort of subdivides the resort into areas - meaning you can have a totally adult/child-free experience (as we did) OR, so it seems, a really great family trip. We talked to several families who were there with several generations and they were having a great time. NOTE that you may want to request/pay attention to your room location depending on what the purpose of your trip was. Our room/casita was near the bar, away from the family pool - exactly what we wanted - but on a family trip, you may want to be on the family section/pool.

Other notes:

* Food and drinks surprisingly reasonable. Happy hour from 6-8 with two-for-one margaritas.
* Note that, at least in December, it wasn't exactly hot and the ocean is not warm either.
* The resort is at least an hour from Puerta Vallerta. There's not a whole lot else to do while at the resort but spend time at the resort. We went for a bike ride around Punta Mita and attempted to explore the neighboring town...not too much too see.
* The service wasn't quite as extraordinarily as you would have expected; room service/coffee, etc. occasionally took quite some time.
* Advise having St. Regis arrange transportation to/from Puerta Vallerta airport. Maybe it's bit more expensive but the airport is mass confusion/not very organized, so makes life a bit easier - plus it's a long trip to Punta Mita from the airport.

Lastly, we walked over to the neighboring Four Seasons Punta Mita one day for lunch; in my opinion there is NO competition between the Four Seasons and the St. Regis. The Four Seasons felt crowded and loud and not as gorgeous (of course - we didn't stay there, just walked the property); that being said - the food is fabulous! and the guacamole is better, I think, than the St. Regis guacamole, so it may be worth a walk if your stay is long enough.

Gorgeous, top notch resort. What amazing sunsets!

A General Manager, always present and kind to his clients as well as to his staff is something exceptionnal in the hotel world these days! Staff members that all know your name as from the first day is unbelievable! Smiles and kindness at any time even after many many hours of work is highly appreciated. The comfort of the butlers, the small attentions, every one's private beach beds prepared every day again and again. This hotel is real paradise! We came all the way from Europe and it is so much worth it!

If you enjoy travelling with your family in an excellent hotel don´t miss St.Regis Punta Mita! Great rooms all of them looking at the sea, wonderful beds and the bathrooms were amazing with two types of showers one of them outside in a small "patio" full of plants and flowers. Excellent light in all the rooms. We were seven ,my husband and myself with kids between15 to 25. The staff of the hotel would do anything to make our stay the best. Mr.Carl Emberson, the hotel manager, was a grand companion he even played golf with my husband and one of our sons and we had dinner all together. We thank him and all of his staff that made our holidays the best!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for connecting rooms 5503 and 5504
