“Hotel Cinco 2013”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

A clean, conveniently located hotel of 12 units which are actually condos. Right on the beach. Friendly accommodating staff. Lovely rooftdeck with pool and a casual restaurant/bar. Great for families or groups of friends.

Highlights:
location, condo deck (all face the ocean and have a great comfy deck arrangement), rooftop deck, staff.

Lowlight:
Gym lacks cardio options beyond one elliptical. But weights options are sufficient.

For reference, I've also stayed @ the Four Seasons Punta Mita, Grand Velas & Villa l'Estancia in Nuevo. Factor $90 each way cab from PVR but this uncrowded beautiful beach is worth it. Only 12 rooms in the hotel, all 2 & 3 BR with washer/dryers & full kitchens. Our 2 BR had 3 bathrooms and a huge balcony with loungers & dining table. Beautiful chic furnishings and comfy bed. I was nervous about the hot water based upon previous reviews but there is an in-unit continuous hot water heater so we never ran out - it just takes a little while to heat up. You are literally steps from the beach; the sound of waves at night and watching the sun rise in the morning are some of the nicest features. The wi-fi is so good you can stream a movie on Netflix. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Oso Negro and his surf instruction is so good I almost don't want to write about it for fear of being too "discovered."

The housekeeping is adequate but picky people may not be pleased. If you make another drink you won't notice the ground-in play-doh on the carpet. There are some chips and dings here and there. Repeat earlier advice about making another drink. No bathtubs and the hot tub was broken. It's ok - we bought limes out of the back of a guy's truck and tequila from the little tienda down the street and there's a lime squeezer in the kitchen.

So, the hotel website makes this place look a little "Portlandia" - and I was nervous that it would be overrun with little glasses-wearing vegans. Alas, this is Mexico and the economy isn't great. So, no yoga classes, no "local harvest" restaurant - and that's ok. The El Anclote next door is the hot spot on the beach - just grab some fish tacos to go and sit on your balcony - or grab a spot on their beach and order a $9 bucket of beer.

The fancy restaurant downstairs is a little noisy at night, featuring stacked food and celine dion over and over each night. Go down the street to the Blue Shrimp. By the way, you don't need a car in Punta de Mita. There's a whole restaurant row - although you will pay gringo prices.

If you're looking to enjoy the ocean, have some drinks and relax, this is a great spot.

This was our first stay at Punta Mita and Hotel Cinco. The location itself is beautiful....very quiet at night and on the beach. The staff at the hotel were wonderful.....helpful at all times. our room was very spacious and had a full kitchen which we really like.
The Sunset Grill up top was fantastic. Julio and Alma greeted us everyday with big smiles and could not do enough for us.
our only disappointment was the quality of the housekeeping service. left a lot to be desired.

Room Tip: Third floor was fantastic

This was the first and the last time i stay here, this is the worst hotel i have stayed, the rooms are dirty, spacious but dirty, the whole areas in the hotel are dirty as well, they have a very bad service and the pool upstairs its not clean, there are many things they are short, the gim its not fully equipment and the internet was not working and the management looks didnt concern about, Horatio who is the GM is not prepare to manage a hotel. So that if you are gonna travel to Punta Mita, choose another hotel than this, there are other better options. I wont ever come back to this hotel.

An amazing holiday, Cinco is a brilliant hotel aided by the staff, position and the level of accommodation. The staff on the ground are the best I've met at any hotel facility in the world and Greg who helped us with booking a Penthouse was an absolute pleasure to deal with - so straight up and informative.

Would recommend this to anyone looking for a Mexican getaway - if you get a chance book a stay here.

As can be seen from previous reviews i am particular about the hotels i stay at.

Cinco is amazing. The front desk staff was kindest, friendliest, I've ever experienced. I was blown away by their professionalism. Rooms are large and comfortable. Shower pressure is perfect.
View is picturesque. Ample parking. Stay here if you want amazing value, quality and service.

2 bedrooms, 2.5 bath, full kitchen, well furnished good sized condo. nice rooms. great views. only disappointment is the rocky beach not great for swimming right in front of the hotel. a highlight was there are a dozen good restaurants basically next door on the water and very convenient.

Room Tip: 3 levels and if i was doing it again i'd make sure i was on floor 3 so i didnt hear footsteps at...
