I have just returned from a 7-day stay at the Casa del Sol Inn in Ajijic on the shores of Lake Chapala and am pleased to be the first to write a review. The accommodations at the Inn, which was recently refurbished, were absolutely beautiful in the colonial Mexican style. All rooms ( I stayed in 2 different ones and looked in on 2 more) were furnished with luxurious linens and top of the line mattresses and pillows, which were so comfortable. The innkeeper/owner, Cathy, was the consummate hostess. She provided a delicious breakfast which included fresh fruit, homemade muffins, a daily chef's special, cereals, and eggs any style, with a choice of side dishes and plenty of coffee. The ambiance was welcoming and friendly with a daily poolside gathering of guests hosted by Cathy. But, there is no lack of privacy if that is what you are looking for and plenty of time to visit with other guests if you prefer. Cathy is very helpful when it comes to suggestions for dining out or making arrangements for sightseeing. Its closeness to the center of town, shopping, and restaurants make the Casa del Sol the ideal location for exploring Ajijic and all it has to offer. I would highly recommend the Casa del Sol to the single traveler or couples looking for a beautiful oasis with comfort and amenities to please even the most demanding guest.
