“Excellent property but hosts could have been friendlier”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2010

The property is excellent -- large attractive grounds with an excellent pool and view and good sized, attractive rooms and there were some nice touches such as leaving muffins, brownies, etc. out all day long. But there were two negatives: first, the hosts could have been friendlier (couldn't help feeling they thought guests were just a nuisance) and the walk from the town centre is fairly long and quite steep. Wouldn't stay there again if there was any alternative.

Where to begin… Tres Leones B&B is a paradise! Beautiful setting. Gracious hosts. Within walking distance of Ajijic’s shops, businesses and restaurants. You can’t go wrong here.

We are currently booking flights for our 3rd visit to Casa Tres Leones. Reading over the reviews it is so great to see such a fantastic retreat receiving praise it deserves. I first visited CTL on my own in 2008, visiting friends in the village. I brought my husband back 6 mths later. Many thanks to Alix & Emile for making each stay so memorable, I look forward to seeing you again soon & couldn't recommend the CTL paradise more highly.

Sometimes one is fortunate enough to stay some where and get a 10 in every catagory. Tres Leones is the best B&B I have ever experienced. Should you and yours ever go to
Ajijic,Mexico do stay here. It beautiful, pristine and comfortable. Your hosts are first class, charming and caring about their guests.

We just spent Thanksgiving weekend with friends celebrating their 29th Anniversary. Beautiful place with fantastic views of the lake and city. The host, Alix, went out of his way to make us feel welcome. They have the best Bran Muffins for breakfast we have ever eaten. I would go back just for those.
Great location, just a few blocks from the downtown square. We are going back to look for a home there and will plan to stay at Casa Tres Leones again.

We arrived in the evening to the balmy evening air and a genuine warm welcome from Emile and Alix. We were shown to a delightful room with an inviting balcony and a spiral staircase leading to the roof top. Here we sat sipping on Tequila watching fire-works over the roof tops of AJIJIC - Glorious.
The next morning we woke to see this gorgeous hacienda style home, with so many superb authentic features, it displayed a fascinating mexican character.
The next week disappeared too rapidily, as we spent hours wandering around quaint markets and elite little shops. We balanced our time well though, with long lunches, a gentle trip on the lake and hours in and around the beautifull swimming pool.
Whilst we were reluctant to leave we had achieved exactly what we wanted, this was the ability to return home relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to book another flight back.

We were visiting Ajijic for two weeks and picked an "oasis in the mist"! Casa Tres Leones blends the sense of old Mexican hacienda charm with modern amenities. The terrace is awesome with a spectacular view of the lake and the well manicured gardens and pool. The Casa is centrally located in the village and about a 5 minute walk from the central square, and no more than 10 minutes walk from at lease a dozen restaurants.
Alix always prepared a great hot breakfast (a different one each day), along with fresh fruit and the usual continental fare. The breakfast was always hot and the coffee always fresh. It was a great start each day for our explorations of the village and locale.
We stayed in the Lover’s Suite, which has it’s own private terrace and large boveda ceiling. A wonderfully, yet tastefully, decorated suite. Highly recommended to book!!
There wasn’t a single negative thing we could…well, except for one thing…the muffins and ginger cake are to die for. Alix prepares these daily. One bite, and you’re hooked! I think I ate an entire tray of each while lounging around the pool one day. Thanks Alix and Emile for a wonderful stay. Highly recommended!!!
