“Special BBQ night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Dined with friends last night for Jimmy's bbq and Tall Boys. The St Louis cut spareribs were cooked to perfection with a nice flavorful rub and good bbq sauce. Regular menu was served as well and having eaten here many times, it is one of our favorites. This really is big US city dining at Mexico prices as others have said.

“New York Quality, Mexico Prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

A serious restaurant that should please most foodies used to the culinary variety in places like New York City, Houston or Los Angeles, Number 4 is a stylish, but unpretentious place for a great night out. The cuisine isn't watered down like many of the "nice" places in the Lake Chapala area, meaning, if you have the Steak au Poivre, it tastes almost identical to the one served at the Cafe du Rendez Vous in the Place Denfert-Rochereau in Paris. It's that good. The beed is of some of the best quality I've found in Mexico (it isn't tough -- cooked mid-rare, it almost dissolves in your mouth.)

The night we went, there was a chef visiting from Kenya as well as the normal chef, so we were able to enjoy some amazing African soup. The Oysters Rockefeller were also seriously good. Add a bottle of the lower-cost (but great) red wine on the menu and two people can eat deliciously for about 700 pesos or so (with appetizer, soup, main course, mineral water and wine.) That sounds pricey, depending on your habits, however, in New York City, the same exact meal might cost $250 dollars with less ambience and less friendly service. It's a great treat to have a world-class restaurant in Ajijic with the kindness of Mexico, prices of Mexico but with a food quality and variety worthy of any sophisticated world capital.

Number 4 is a great place, my favorite restaurant in the Ajijic area. It's a perfect place if you're looking to escape Mexico for a while and enjoy world-class dining that hasn't been modified for "local" tastes. When I want Mexican food, there are plenty of great restaurants, but when I want other styles of food, I don't want them "adapted."

This is a great restaurant that's approachable, of the highest available quality as well as a good bargain.

“amoung the top 10”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

food is pretty good , a little on the pricy side compared top other equally good local restaurants. Avoid band nights if you want a visit with friends. Loud bar bands that play there don't work with the $$$$ nice food and atmosphere in our opinion. some live music goes really well but not all.
