“Probably your best option in the Valle de Guadalupe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

I totally agree with the previous reviewer. Amazing hotel, amazing potential but completely mismanaged. This is atypical of Grupo Habita. I have stayed in most of their hotels and the service is generally excellent.

We spent three days here for our honeymoon. The rooms are a design marvel which is standard for Grupo Habita. The grounds are new but truly special and the atmosphere is very good and should be improved over time. I would still reccomend this hotel over the others simply because of its design elements. It is something to see and experience.

Finally a cool and stylish hotel in Northern Baja! The design and concept is awesome! The views are spectacular! That said I think they opened 2 months too early or they don't have a manager, or if they have a manager he/she has never run a hotel before. This is really shocking because I have been to other Habita hotels before and they have all been great!
The reception is empty/ has unpacked boxes, there is basically no restaurant. We were confused but finally figured out that there will be one it just isn't completed yet. For dinner we ordered tacos which were below average and when we asked for chips and guacamole we were told that they didn't have any or the lady went home or??? but they offered us nuts. We then ordered nachos... which were covered in velveeta cheese?!?!?!?!- baseball stadium gringo style... in Mexico..... we didn't even bother eating them. THey started construction at 10pm. The room is awesome and has a cool design... there needs to be a few repairs... tiles cracked, wall panels coming off. THe soap/conditioner/ cream is really strange labeled with hand written pieces of paper and taped on with scotch tape... all this is fixable though so no biggie... I am sure they will fix it. The chilaquiles the next day were surprisingly good! The beer is cold:) the bar is very limited. The staff, particularly the girls, are shockingly unprofessional. There are no less than 4 girls hanging out eating/ drinking at the only bar (with 6 seats) at the pool.. noisily gossiping and playing on their phones and I saw two different sets of guest walk up to the bar and the girls didn't even bother to get up. The "eco/ camping" theme is awesome and I appreciate the solitude (no music etc) if it were not interrupted by the staff yelling and yelling and yelling to each other.... "oye" from across the pool... "que pedo?" I don't blame the staff for this as it is clearly a management issue.... but come on. Upon checkout they reception discounted our food voluntarily so I think they know that there is work to be done. At $260/night (weekend-night) it is in the same price category as Estancia or La Valencia in La Jolla.... the service and services need to be greatly improved. Its so beautiful and cool- we would even pay $100 more per night if it was well run and relaxing (Or $100 less as is). We will definitely be back (but we are going to wait a couple of months!!!).

- got lost twice trying to get there (main website has wrong dot on the map.) Do not follow google maps or www.designhotels.com
- severely overpriced
- restaurant is very weak, the menu is an 8.5x11 wrinkled white piece of paper. They gave us one menu to share for two people. Paid $90 pesos ($7.50 dollars) for awful papas fritas.
- took them literally 50 minutes to prepare a yogurt parfait and plain pancakes in the morning and we were the only 2 people at the restaurant.
- no TV, no phone, no ipod dock, no magazines, no introduction to the hotel, just an amplifier out of reach with an annoying bright blue light. Amp and ceiling mount speakers....but no stereo??
- cottages are tiny 210sf, claustrophobic blank white panels, and already falling apart just a few months after construction. See my photos.
- they overcharged us $35 at checkout. After I proved them wrong via my emailed confirmation there was no apology given
-pool was supposed to be an infinity but they leave the water level 1 foot below the rim so its not?
- almost worth talking about at $120 a night but $300 is ridiculous for this part of mexico.
