It's odd. I drink a lot of craft beer. Tecate is definitely not that. It's like a Coor's light of Mexico. Actually, the two brands are owned by the same company; the Heineken company, actually; so I suppose there's some truth to that. Either way, it was really cool to check the place out and see how the beer named after the city I was staying in is made.
Our tour guide was informative and very knowledgable. It was pretty fascinating to see such a huge brewery and the different stages/processes that go into it all. Non-craft or not. My one word of advice is this: Do not taste the hop pellets they offer you. Disgusting. Just enjoy them in the actual beer. Good lord! Even if I were a fan of IPAs I don't think I could stand the taste.
Other pro: You get a couple of complimentary beers for taking the tour. One before and one after. The tour is free as well, so you really might as well.
