“beautiful place, would stay there again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We had a family suite and were pleased with the mattresses, the size of the rooms, and the cleanliness. We didn't use the pool but that area looked clean and well maintained. The restaurant next door was very good, everyone enjoyed the food. Plus we ended up sitting in there for about three hours and we never got the impression we had overstayed our welcome. The beds had both feather and foam pillows, and the towels were soft and thick. I felt very pampered there. The breakfast room was large, bright, and well stocked. This is a beautiful hotel and I felt the price was very reasonable.

Stayed here one sunday night passing through town. After checking online, when we arrived the rate posted was $125. We showed up at the hotel and were charged $135, when we asked why the difference we were told maybe more people checked in since we looked. Strange as it wasn't that long before that we checked but we paid.I guess that was an omen we ignored, sheets did not smell right, very noisy hallway, and the floors are not insulated for sound as we were awoken at 5 am by footsteps above our head for a half an hour. i do believe it may be the best in town but from other reviews and looking around it isn't hard. Next time I will keep driving.

Posted on behalf of Malcolm Anderson, General Manager

Thank you, Lance, for sharing with us your disappointment with your stay with us the night of Sunday, August 4th.

The Gold Eagle Lodge rates are based upon what is known as "Yield Management". Simply stated the rates are on a sliding scale that as the demand increases, so do the rates. It is the same principle that we see airlines using. In point of fact, based upon the "Yield Management" program our rate for a "walk-in", at the end of the day on the Sudnay being discussed, stood at $145.00 single or double/twin occupancy plus taxes. I have, however, asked our Front Office Manager to extend a $10.00 credit to your card as a token of our appreciation for bringing this matter to our attention.

The Gold Eagle lodge is of frame construction and on "long weekends" we always have a very large number of "family guests" which accounts for the noise in the hallways. By taking the time to make a reservation, you can certainly request "top floor" and thereby assure yourself for no heavy footed guests above you.

Our Houskeeping Laundry department uses an unscented commercial detergent and bleach and perhaps it is the bleach that you smelt.

We all sincerely hope that we will again have the opportunity to host you on your next visit to the Battlefords, Lance, and I would encourage you to call me personally to make your reservations.

Happy trails,

Malcolm (Mal) Anderson, CHA

Stayed 3 nights in North Battleford for family reunion. Hotel was very accommodating especially for families. Great pool and spa area. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Each room has a microwave and fridge which is always nice. The only complaint would be that you cannot adjust the temperature yourself...it is set at a specific temp. (this case a/c was set at 71F) Front desk has to get maintenance to adjust it if its too cold or too hot for you. Continental breakfast was good and plentiful, well maintained and clean. In our opinion the $10 voucher for the casino is not worth anything as you have to use it the same day and sign up to players club in order to use it. The Casino is not attached but you can walked to it easily...but native owned so they still allow smoking. But the hotel is smoke free which is great...this is our second time staying there and would stay there again.

Stayed for 1 night and this seemed to be the best choice for the area by far. Received a wonderful greeting and great service by Cherise at the front desk. Although this is a "Casino Hotel", you wouldn't know it except for the $10 voucher that they offer you when you check in.

Hotel itself and rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable enough. Pool area was clean, steam room was nice, but the Sauna was either malfunctioning or maybe needed a really long time to heat up? We tried to go in a few times but it was always cold.

Continental breakfast was average but suited our needs just fine.

Would definitely stay again if in the area...thanks!

side note....Took up the offer for the $10 casino voucher (turned out to be $20 when we got to the casino) but much to my surprise this is a smoking allowed casino and it was pretty awful. They do offer a non-smoking room at the back but it was pretty gross and we didn't stay long.

Overall the hotel was nicely layed out and the rooms where quite nice & clean. I have stayed here in the past and will most likely stay here again. Would be nice if it had a resteraunt & lounge built right into it after a long day did not have a desire to wander around in search of food & beverages.

To my surprise, it is a casino hotel. Luckily the casino is detached in a separate building and the hotel itself is relatively kid friendly, no cigarette smell. It has a nice pool but we didn't use it. Room is relatively clean and clearly benefit from casino funding with above average materials. It even has an infrared motion sensor but for what? Beds are soft but with very good support. I deducted 2 stars on Room rating because the fridge is very noisy and the bathroom sink is slow to drain. Sound insulation is below average too, I can hear people walkng on 2nd floor. Complimentary breakfast is provided with the usual selection, no fresh waffle maker is disappointing.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet stay, request higher level and away from front parking.

Room and staff are awesome. Nothing but smiles and goodwill upon arrival. Room was clean and well appointed, plus we got free casino money. Can't wait to go back.

Also the restaurant KIHIW at the casino has outstanding food, beautiful presentation and excellent service.
