“Very different food, excellent service for a reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We were seated by the window in the bar section of the restaurant. The décor was very comforting but the chairs forced us into a very upright posture. We both had their prix-fixe de jour. She had the Rillettes De Saumon (fresh salmon salad) and Rognons Lapin in Madeira sauce (rabbit kidneys). I had baby shrimp cocktail and veal sweet breads. The portions were large and very tasty. The mains came with 3 different types of vegetables and fluffy mashed potatoes. The meal came with a coffee or tea and came to a reasonable $65. Due to the service, I tacked on a $10 tip.

“Plywood tables and wooden chairs with slabs of foam. Good food but awful service.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

The food was good but everything else was very poorly done. The waitress left us sitting for 10 minutes, then tried to take our order without ever giving us a menu. After apologizing profusely, she returned empty handed explaining that all menus were being used. Later, while eating, our wineglasses sat empty for 10 to 15 minutes during which time no one checked or approached the table. When we asked the woman filling water glasses to bring us more wine, a very haughty waiter finally came over but only to tell us not to order drinks from the water girl. Over two hours after arriving, w had finally received our meals and eaten and were then told that the only credit card machine was currently being used. Ridiculous! I thought we would never get out of the place.

“Wonderful food and service...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. We ordered the fixed price menu and it was yummy. I had smoked salmon, pheasant stuffed with fois gras and one of the best chocolate desserts I've had in a long time. I thought that it was a great value for the quality of food that is served in this bistro. The service was also great!

“Casual and Relaxed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

I have visited this restaurant many times over the last 10 years and it never fails to please. The food is simple, tasty and well presented. The staff are about what you would expect from a 'pub-like' atmosphere; friendly with the appearance that they are happy to be where they are. I sit in the outdoor section whenever weather permits but, inside or out, my experience is that I just had a very relaxing and tasty meal. Try it on the way out of VT into Canada. Just north of the Richford, VT border.
