“Sweet...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

Very enchanted by the different menu proposed at this place... A great change from the "traditional" sugar shack menu. The food was awesome, we had plenty (too much? Nah...) and the place is like a trip in time. Open your mind, your mouth and let the maple syrup flow!!!

“Cabane a sucre with a difference!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014 via mobile

Just left the restaurant Le table des pionniers in St Faustin about one hour north of Montreal in the heart of the Laurentians. Set up like a typical Québécois cabane with long tables low ceilings and decor of old ski equipment , farming and hunting items from many years past ....Food was excellent with chicken ,hams ,and bacon all smoked on site... Salad to die for .Pea soup and country bread and a soufflé with curd cheese.Atmosphere upbeat lots of music ,a place to dance and lots of families with kids of all ages.Great time was has by all!

“Chaotic!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014 via mobile

I had made reservations early on for for a group of 4 at 730, as per availability. We were expecting a gastronomical sugar shack experience....Unfortunately, at our arrival (over 1h drive!!) we noticed an unusual amount of parked cars for such a small place...a looong line up outside and a bunch of people waiting in the terrass area huddled together, waiting. We had trouble walking in! It was worst inside! And the noise! We had trouble hearing ourselves think! No hostess in site. We were told by other waiting clients "no need to give ur name, the hostess said she would recognize u and find u!" What??? How?? Needless to say, after waiting and waiting, we gave up on looking to experience what could have been a new culinary concept!
To management: get ur organization and kitchen together or you face losing more clients!

“A Lovely Spot to Bring Tourists”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

The décor in this place contains tools, pots and plates from yesteryear. The seating is in the old fashioned "Sugar Shack" style. The place was closed for a while. It reopened this past summer by new owners who wish to preserve the nature of the previous Millete Family place. It is now a "Contemporary" Sugar Shack! The dishes offered are a “Fusion” of new cuisine inspired by traditional Quebecois food, using local produce. In addition there is a boutique featuring pickles, apple-cider, apple and maple preparations, and maple wines. La Tablée des Pionniers serves year-round breakfast, and brunch on Saturday and Sundays, and on Saturday evening, dinner with specialties prepared by Chef Michael Lessard (previously of L'Eau à la Bouche, Ste. Adele). The evening menu offers pork rib, Turbot Steak or Filet Mignon, and for desert there is a Tarte Tatin with caramelized apples.
