“Spectular resort and amazing beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

From the service of the door man when we arrived to bell man when we left...outstanding service. The setting is so spectacular and peaceful. I'd never stayed in the area before, but let me tell you, we WILL be back. So much to do, swimming in outdoor heated pool(very cool) to skiing, snowmobiling and even a horse drawn sleigh ride. Derrick, the guide on the sleigh ride was so wonderful and full or stories of the region and history of the hotel. If you stood still for. Few seconds and looked slightly confused their was and employee ( usually with a tray of cookies) right there to ask if you needed anything. But, if relaxing is your thing, there are plenty of little nooks and crannies to just read or knit or just simply stare out that the gorgeous view of the St. Lawrence. There are several small towns within easy driving distance to check out if shopping is on your list.
The only negative remark I have is make sure you don't get room 157. Just out side the elelvator and directly above the bar. Bad combo. Even with that the room was nicely appointed. Of the three windows two opened and the seals on the windows are pretty impressive. You can't feel or hear the wind gusts or the below zero temps. The food in all the restaurants was wonderful. But you MUST go to Le Charlevoix. If you are lucky, you may get Bernard to serve you. He is the quintessential Maitre D'.
I have every intention of returning to this lovely place.

This is a beautiful hotel to visit. We spent Xmas there.

The pros

- gorgeous setting
- very comfortable rooms
- plenty of activities
- casino next door
- super friendly people at the reception, concierge, bell boys and the people at the Xmas party

The cons

- The food was a hit and a miss which kind of surprising.
- waiters at the restaurants and bars were also a hit and a miss

I would recommend the hotel just for the location but I do have my reservations

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We were very surprised to read your comments in regards to the restaurants as this is certainly not in keeping with our high standards of service. Please rest assured your comments will be shared to the concerned department and appropriate actions will be taken. That being said, we're glad the other aspects of your stay were satisfactory. We most certainly hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you again to Fairmont le Manoir Richelieu.

This hotel can be recommended highly. Perfect location overlooking the st Lawrence river, huge rooms and beds......beautifully warm. Excellent facilities and the heated swimming pool is best enjoyed in the evening....heaven! Don't forget to let the hotel dog, Jordy take you for a walk....but let him lead the way...he knows best!

..... but the 15 or so feet of a humpback whale caudal fin slicing the tranquil waters of the St.Lawrence river right under the window of our suite on this perfect october morning.

Le Manoir is a short drive from Quebec city, 90 minutes or so. Stunning drive, powerful, wild mountains on one side, the mighty St. Lawrence on the other. More the sea than a river.

Since 1929 it has been rated as one of the great resort destination in Canada, and is still is.
Multi-million dollar refurbishment a few years ago has brought back the hotel to it's original splendour.

Large, luminous, quiet rooms. Warm, caring service capturing the sense of hospitality of the Charlevoix region.
The executive chef, Patrick Turcot, understands the richness of the local terroir and this is reflected in his food offering: no affectation in his dishes but simple, clean purity. Impressive.

Great pools, including sea water, wonderful grounds to walk and let time go by.

Always the sign of a well managed property when the General Manager is where he should be: spending his time with his guests and ensuring that their expectations are surpassed.
Every body calls the GM 'Monsieur Jean-Jacques' for his beautiful Basque name can be challenging to pronounce for some. What a polished hôtelier he is!

We have stayed at Le Manoir many times over the years, in all seasons: this is not a hotel this is a memory maker.

Ninety minutes from Québec: 'worth the trip' to use the Michelin Guide words.

I can't say enough about this hotel - My family and I simply fell in love with it and all it has to offer. Premises, grounds and views are breathtaking. Everything is perfectly manicured and thought through. Rooms were spacious and confortable, an older classical feel yet with all modern amenities. Activities are plentiful, pools, spas, mini-golf, badminton, tennis, biking, game room, basketball, marshmallow cooking on a fire pit, etc... The outdoor pools are fabulous, heated, with a color-changing feature, just so peaceful in the evening. Service is perfect and all staff members we encountered were friendly, helpful and attentive. Truly a five star experience! We would return anytime!
