First, I should start by saying that this is my third trip here. For Americans, this spa with all of the treatments is very reasonable as far as spas go. (read: approx $1700 for 6 nights/meals and 9 treatments!). Overall, I love it here and would recommend it. My comments are more to help the spa improve on what is already wonderful! Everyone can improve right?
CONS:
1. There are not a ton of options of classes and only one given at any specific time. Plus, most of the seminars are given in French (which is not helpful if you don't speak French).
2. Classes are geared towards people who are beginners or less knowledgeable about fitness.
3. there is only one yoga class given per week which was disappointing because that is what I love about going to a spa. Even worse though is that the teacher was so bad that I wanted to leave the class. It is true that there are different forms of yoga but I don't know what form of yoga she taught because it was nothing I've experienced before and was neither introspective, relaxing nor physically challenging.
4. I'm not a stickler for service but we received a few "I don't know" answers to things that the staff should have known or found out. For example, they mixed up one of my treatment times and when no one arrived after 15 minutes we figured out my schedule was wrong and I asked what to do they said "I don't know." That's fine if they don't know but then find out!
Also, each night I asked the waitstaff what the dessert they were putting before me was and they didn't know! Only on the third night did our server jokingly say "I know what it is tonight". There are not many options on the menu for dinner and each of the staff serving should really know what it is. That said, they are so friendly and fun that I had to laugh about that. And, the maitre de is the hardest working man - truly!
6. the schedule says that there is an "aperitif" around evening time but when you go to the dining area there is nothing there. Apparently "aperitif" means that you can go into the dining room to purchase some wine to take with you. The schedule should make that more clear or include a notice outside the dining area to let people know because some people were waiting there for something to come out.
7. Also, it would be nice if they had afternoon snacks other than apples (which are tasty and healthy) but they used to have "healthy" cookies and I think that they should have something - more substantial - like crudites or crackers.
PROS
1. The teachers are great in that they will adapt to your strengths and weaknesses. LOVE GENEVE and the morning walks/hikes.
2. the surroundings ARE BEAUTIFUL
3. the treatments (esp the scrub/wrap/bath) are amazing and top notch. I am from NY and some of the best treatments I've hand are here!
4. the wines are very good and organic
5. the outdoor baths are so relaxing
6. the people are very nice
7. the fruit is so incredibly tasty and fresh - I ate a bowl or two each morning!
8. the pool is so relaxing in summer
