“Great value but could use a couple of tweaks!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

First, I should start by saying that this is my third trip here. For Americans, this spa with all of the treatments is very reasonable as far as spas go. (read: approx $1700 for 6 nights/meals and 9 treatments!). Overall, I love it here and would recommend it. My comments are more to help the spa improve on what is already wonderful! Everyone can improve right?

CONS:
1. There are not a ton of options of classes and only one given at any specific time. Plus, most of the seminars are given in French (which is not helpful if you don't speak French).
2. Classes are geared towards people who are beginners or less knowledgeable about fitness.
3. there is only one yoga class given per week which was disappointing because that is what I love about going to a spa. Even worse though is that the teacher was so bad that I wanted to leave the class. It is true that there are different forms of yoga but I don't know what form of yoga she taught because it was nothing I've experienced before and was neither introspective, relaxing nor physically challenging.
4. I'm not a stickler for service but we received a few "I don't know" answers to things that the staff should have known or found out. For example, they mixed up one of my treatment times and when no one arrived after 15 minutes we figured out my schedule was wrong and I asked what to do they said "I don't know." That's fine if they don't know but then find out!
Also, each night I asked the waitstaff what the dessert they were putting before me was and they didn't know! Only on the third night did our server jokingly say "I know what it is tonight". There are not many options on the menu for dinner and each of the staff serving should really know what it is. That said, they are so friendly and fun that I had to laugh about that. And, the maitre de is the hardest working man - truly!
6. the schedule says that there is an "aperitif" around evening time but when you go to the dining area there is nothing there. Apparently "aperitif" means that you can go into the dining room to purchase some wine to take with you. The schedule should make that more clear or include a notice outside the dining area to let people know because some people were waiting there for something to come out.
7. Also, it would be nice if they had afternoon snacks other than apples (which are tasty and healthy) but they used to have "healthy" cookies and I think that they should have something - more substantial - like crudites or crackers.

PROS
1. The teachers are great in that they will adapt to your strengths and weaknesses. LOVE GENEVE and the morning walks/hikes.
2. the surroundings ARE BEAUTIFUL
3. the treatments (esp the scrub/wrap/bath) are amazing and top notch. I am from NY and some of the best treatments I've hand are here!
4. the wines are very good and organic
5. the outdoor baths are so relaxing
6. the people are very nice
7. the fruit is so incredibly tasty and fresh - I ate a bowl or two each morning!
8. the pool is so relaxing in summer

Thanks Spa Eastman! See you soon.

Room Tip: main house is easy to stay in because dining room and many classes are held there. but kaufman was so quaint and less expensive.

Bonjour "hirscan",

Glad you loved your spa vacation with us! And yes, we agree with you that there's always room for improvement!

We've just adapted our workshops to make sure everything is bilingual. And from now on, we will indeed be offering more yoga classes (you were not the first one to mention this; we listened to your request! ; o)). Also, we will make sure our Maitre D’ keeps on working hard on the training of his team in the dining room.

We really thank you for all your comments. It really is precious for us.

“Great spa for a girlfriend getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2011

We had a wonderful, relaxing week at the spa: beautiful natural setting, imaginative and healthy cuisine, excellent spa services. Sandrine and Megalie at the hair salon gave us an especially memorable day of makeovers. I'd recommend Spa Eastman to anyone looking for a transformative experience!

“Paradise Found! We hated to leave - a big "Merci".FIVE STARS !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2011

Our group of 5 girlfriends just spent a week relaxing at this amazing spa. The surroundings are beautiful, the staff are are professional, the spa treatments are outstanding, the rooms comfy and ultra-quiet and restful, and the food is spectacular. We were" wowed" every day by our massages, reflexology sessions, watsu(you must try it) and the over-the-top four-hands massage.
Every meal was beautifully prepared with fresh, local, organic, delicious ingredients. Organic fruit and nuts for snacks throughout the day; local tisanes from their garden. Honestly, it was heaven.
The best part though, on top of all these wonderful experiences, was the HAIR SALON!

The Sylist,Sondrine,is a goddess of hair. She gave us new styles that suited us;she is gifted in seeing a new look and the best colour for your skin tone. I cannot believe the tranformations she did for our group of girlfriends. We left feeling ten years younger and wishing we lived close enough to have her as our hairdresser. If you go to the spa, go see Sondrine!!
We are ALL returning to spa-eastman and cannot wait!! Thank you, Thank you Thank you!!

“No Choice but to Relax.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

This spa has continued to build on its excellent basic services and organic spa menu. I'd been there with some girlfriends over 3 years ago, and was impressed with the outdoor pools and landscaping changes that have been made since then. For a summer weekend we couldn't have had better weather or location for enjoying the pools, surrounding mountains, and the incredible sounds of the local songbirds.

I highly recommend at least 24 hours there which is the equivalent of a one week vacation. We were very relaxed after the massage and feeling healthy from the fruit and vegetable based meals they served; always with some sort of protein (chicken or fish or beef; organic and locally grown). Don't worry about feeling too deprived. The dessert on Saturday night was chocolate creme brulee!

There are a selection of hiking paths right from the parking lot of the spa, but remember to take bug spray and water. Finally, there are also amazing biking paths throughout the Eastern Townships so take a little longer in the area to enjoy some biking before you check in and get that massage.

“First time... and last”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

Spa Eastman is overrated and too expensive for what you receive. A 2-day stay with 3 treatments was the price of a week in the Caribbean. The staff at reception was disorganized, trying to check people in, others out, while answering the phone and requests for information. The treatments are good but had to check my bill to spot a mistake in one of my treatment which I had downgraded, and wait 10 minutes while they fixed my bill (I wonder if they would have made the adjustment if I upgraded instead). The meals were poor in taste and it was always the same salad bar. Breakfast was pretty good but that's hard to miss. Stayed in one of the "chalets" (mistake): those accommodations needed a good facelift and didn't even have a/c. And please, we are in 2011, it's ok to have wi-fi; some people find it relaxing at night to surf the internet, plan their next spa trip (perhaps elsewhwere...).

We are sincerely sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.

It is true that only the rooms in the main pavilion have air conditioning. Air conditioning is rarely necessary in the outdoor pavilions as they are surrounded by a forest that naturally keeps these cottages cool in the summer. The pavilion in which you stayed was completely renovated in 2004. The number of rooms was reduced from 5 to 4 in order to enlarge each one. It goes without saying that we have chosen to decorate the rooms in the outdoor pavilions in cottage and rustic styles in accordance with the nature that surrounds them.

When the main building was built 12 years ago, we decided to offer rooms with a more modern and contemporary decor. Each of these 16 rooms has air conditioning. And WiFi. Obviously, these rooms would better meet your needs.

Rest assured that we consider every comment as a precious gift that allows us to make the necessary adjustments to ensure that every guest can fully appreciate the Spa Eastman experience. We thank you for your comment.
