We stayed here for five nights, from Aug 15 thru 20th, and enjoyed it immensely. Upon arrival, we were surprised to see that the hotel is on the water, overlooking Ile d'Orleans. The view was terrific, and the bridge to Ile d'Orleans was a spectacular sight in the twilight. A small deck decorated with flower pots added to the scene. The person who checked us in was very courteous and efficient, and spoke excellent French and English. He also went to the trouble of choosing various brochures for us, after asking us our plans for sightseeing. He then brought out maps of Quebec City and the surrounding area, and drew routes for us on the maps. This was a first for us, at any establishment.
The room was very clean (meeting the standards of former family run motel housekeeper), and also looked out on the water. Fridge and microwaves were provided for an extra $5 a night, and the entire establishment is brand new, providing excellent bathroom facilities, comfy bedding, new lighting, and carpets that are still spongy to the feet!
Even with a full parking lot, our stay was quiet, and a flat screen television (cable) was a nice touch (not having one at home!) There was plenty of parking, and the location was ideal - just outside Quebec City (about a 5 minute drive north of the city) allowing for easy access to the city, as well as to places like Canyon St Anne (north about 10 minutes), Montmorency Falls (about 3 minutes south), whale watching (north about 3 hours) and Ile d'Orleans (just across the river, about 8 minutes via the bridge).
There was a laptop for our use anytime, in the lobby, and each room has internet access capability. A breakfast area is also set up, on the main floor, every morning, and it is spacious and clean.
We would definitely return to this Econo Lodge - it surpassed our expectations in every area. It was fun watching new travellers getting out of their cars, looking at the water in disbelief, then running down to take pictures while their cars sat with all doors open!
