“Our Wonderful Wedding Week-end”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2011

We spent a beautiful Wedding week-end at the cozy Ripplecove Auberge. We loved the 5 person log cabin by the lake.It was very comfortable .We liked it so much we now want to
buy a log cabin of our own.Although it rained on and off the day of the Wedding it was a lovely day that all my guests really appreciated. The food and service were all five star.
The view of the lake added much beauty to our special day. Many thanks to every-one who contributed to our special day!

We are just coming back from a sleep over at Ripplecove. After reading some of the comments about unsatisfied guests (altough a minority, they make one wonder...), I was looking forward to see whether this inn was up to its excellent reputation. I wasn't dissapointed at all. Despite the heavy rain, we could only enjoy the great location and the grounds of the inn. The staff was great and had the right balance of formality and friendliness. Diner was really good and wine as well. As almost in every restaurant in Quebec nowadays, it was pricey, but given that is now an unfortunate norm, we decided to not let this ruin our joy of being there. I had a great chat with the sommelier who gave me a quick tour of the inn's cellar (very nice!). Brunch was very nice and the sun managed to show up. Our room was small, but not that small. Very comfortable, cozy, well decorated and comfortable.

My only suggestion for improvement would be for the pianist to have a more lively repertoire at diner time. His works gives the evening a great touch, but I found that what he played kept the atmosphere a little too quiet. Without turning the evening into a busy and loud place (which we wouldn't like), a few jazzy songs would have done it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2011

Just got back from a weekend stay at Ripplecove with my spouse and had a great experience overall. The room was very clean and comfortable (luxury room) and it had a jacuzzi tub big enough for two. Our room had a balcony with a great view overlooking the lake.

We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant twice and although the food was fairly good, both my wife and I were not impressed. The foie gras appetizer was a $15 supplemental charge (about $28 a la carte) and was barely two bites. It had a vein running through it that took some serious force to cut through. Foie gras is normally de-veined before cooking, especially at that price. The pork tenderloin was slightly overcooked and the desserts (with the exception of the apple tart tatin) were nothing great. The creme brulee and the goat cheese with figs were mediocre at best. For a AAA-CAA "4 diamond" rated, premium priced restaurant, we expected more. However, the service (both at the inn and restaurant) and wine list were both excellent.

We stayed at Manoir Hovey in the fall and although we found that Ripplecove's accommodations and location to be as good if not better, the dinning (both breakfast and dinner) at Ripplecove was lacking in comparison.

The menu/recipes may need some refinement, but overall a great stay.

The Ripplecove is a resort hotel that offers an excellent kitchen, exceptional service, spectacular views, a spa, and very well appointed rooms. The Eastern Townships are a picturesque part of the province, and is well worth the visit, especially in the summer months. Returning to the Ripplecove after a full day touring the area is a real treat.

We had a wonderful winter stay at the Ripplecove. The spa treatments were wonderful. The meals were exceptional. The wine cellar has a great selection of memorable wines. Just hanging out with a view out the windows at the lake was so relaxing. It was so hard to drag ourselves away. Had only stayed there once before but we were greeted like old friends.

This "inn" is missing the point. They were trying to renovate to urban chic rooms, at an inn in the middle of the woods. Fail. Stayed over Valentine's Day. Had to wait until roughly 10 to eat dinner.

I am at a loss to understand your comments. First, since your post is dated Jan18th, and Valantines day has not yet arrived, I can only assume you are referring to last year (2010). If this is the case, you are the first guest I have ever heard from who objected to us raising the level of luxury in our resort. We constantly invest and improve our property. On average, 5 rooms are refurbished each year to maintain our 5 Star rating from the Quebec Department of Tourism.

During your last visit we had just sanded and re varnished oak floors in several rooms, installed new flat screen TV's, upgraded our linens to 300 thread count 100% Egyptian cotton and bath towels to bamboo. Most of our rooms are designer decorated in upscale traditional style. However, we have two rooms out of our total of 33 rooms that were renovated in a more modern style which is preferred by some guests. I do not agree that quality and variety misses the point!

As for the late dinner reservation, I can only assume that we were booked prior to that time due to the Valantine's day rush. I hope you enjoyed the free sleigh ride and live classic piano while you were waiting.
