We very rarely visit this area of the Island, actually this was the first time in the past six years, but we are sure glad we did. After a brief mid day trip to Lennox Island, the four of us were in the mood for a little lunch. We normally enjoy eating a late lunch/early dinner meal rather than lunch and dinner and we usually would rather dine at small local restaurants, versus the larger touristy type of restaurant catering to the buses. The Landing was suggested by a very nice lady in the Gift Shop on Lennox Island, Doreen I believe was her name. The Landing is a small local, family run restaurant in Tyne Valley, and in my opinion probably not on many travel bus itineraries.
The overall experience was very good, we were fortunate to have the owner(Erica), as our server. The level of service was excellent, Erica seems to be a very nice young lady, who has a personality well suited for the business she operates. All of our meals, which began with a dozen Malpeque Oysters was perfectly timed, and delivered as ordered. I believe Erica even told us she shucked the Oyster herself, (very impressive if you have ever tried to shuck an oyster). Our meal choices were simple, a Fish and Chips, and two regular burgers. and one House Specialty a burger topped with Fried Oysters. All of the meals were very good, great french fries. The Haddock was battered and fried perfectly. Two of us decided to try the freshly made Carrot Cake, which by the way was made by Erica's Grandmother(who could pass that up), which was excellent. The overall quality of our meals was very good to excellent. I ordered and ate the House Oyster Burger, because it sounded different and unique, and I was not disappointed, I definitely would order it again.
From what we gathered the place used to be more of a bar and less of a restaurant until it was taken over by Erica, a couple two to three years ago who has tried to make it more restaurant than watering hole. It's a little dark(very woody) decor, but very comfortable with plenty of space to enjoy yourself. We would all recommend it. and would return again.
Our overall experience was very good, a very good value. A perfect stop if you are searching for a local family restaurant, where the owner takes the time to speak to her customers, and puts her heart and sole into her job.
