The Country Charm Bed and Breakfast is one of the best places to stay when visiting the island. My second time on the island, and my second time staying with innkeepers, Joan and Glenn, I have to say that a trip to the island for me is not complete without visiting this beautiful and peaceful place.
Nestled among a forest of trees, flowers and the sweet sounds of birds, the grounds around the bed and breakfast gave me an opportunity to explore and reflect. In the mornings my mother was able to take short walks through the trees down to the riverside, and I was able to rent a bike from Glenn to do a little riding on the nearby Confederation Trail. I also thoroughly enjoyed taking the paddle boat out onto the river for a few hours of solitude and exploration. Be sure to bring your camera. The most beautiful wildlife is living alongside that river.
The mornings were always a lot of fun gathering in the dining room for breakfast where other travelers would share tales and stories of their travels, and their plans for the day ahead. The scents of brewing coffee, warm homemade muffins and croissants, fresh fruit, and some of Glenn's specialties like Eggs Cavendish or Creme Brulee French Toast would be the perfect start to the day. Not only is the food delicious, and plentiful (no-lunch breakfast), but the kindness and warmth exhibited by both Joan and Glenn are what make the Country Charm Bed and Breakfast a wonderful place to stay.
As for activities, and what to see on the island, Joan and Glenn are full of suggestions and great recommendations, and if they don't know about something, they are always willing to do a little research and find out what it is you are interested in doing. I was interested in kayaking, so Glenn did a little research on various places I could go, and the next thing I knew, I was off for a day of kayaking. My mother was interested in crafts and art studios, so Joan suggested some studios and an Alpaca Knitting place that we both had an amazing time visiting.
In the evenings after a full day of enjoying the island, we would join the other travelers for a cup of tea and some cookies, and relax and talk until we were ready for bed.
Our room was immaculate and cozy, providing the most restful sleep after a long day of traveling and visiting some of the most amazing spots on the island.
