The Country Charm Bed and Breakfast is one of the best places to stay when visiting the island. My second time on the island, and my second time staying with innkeepers, Joan and Glenn, I have to say that a trip to the island for me is not complete without visiting this beautiful and peaceful place.

Nestled among a forest of trees, flowers and the sweet sounds of birds, the grounds around the bed and breakfast gave me an opportunity to explore and reflect. In the mornings my mother was able to take short walks through the trees down to the riverside, and I was able to rent a bike from Glenn to do a little riding on the nearby Confederation Trail. I also thoroughly enjoyed taking the paddle boat out onto the river for a few hours of solitude and exploration. Be sure to bring your camera. The most beautiful wildlife is living alongside that river.

The mornings were always a lot of fun gathering in the dining room for breakfast where other travelers would share tales and stories of their travels, and their plans for the day ahead. The scents of brewing coffee, warm homemade muffins and croissants, fresh fruit, and some of Glenn's specialties like Eggs Cavendish or Creme Brulee French Toast would be the perfect start to the day. Not only is the food delicious, and plentiful (no-lunch breakfast), but the kindness and warmth exhibited by both Joan and Glenn are what make the Country Charm Bed and Breakfast a wonderful place to stay.

As for activities, and what to see on the island, Joan and Glenn are full of suggestions and great recommendations, and if they don't know about something, they are always willing to do a little research and find out what it is you are interested in doing. I was interested in kayaking, so Glenn did a little research on various places I could go, and the next thing I knew, I was off for a day of kayaking. My mother was interested in crafts and art studios, so Joan suggested some studios and an Alpaca Knitting place that we both had an amazing time visiting.

In the evenings after a full day of enjoying the island, we would join the other travelers for a cup of tea and some cookies, and relax and talk until we were ready for bed.

Our room was immaculate and cozy, providing the most restful sleep after a long day of traveling and visiting some of the most amazing spots on the island.

Not having been to PEI previously, and on our first official Father/Daughter vacation, my father and I stayed at Country Charm for one week. Glenn and Joan made sure we felt at home and really took care of us. The B&B was extremely clean, modern with comforts of home including fluffy bathrobes and towels; the food superb, and the choices of breakfast each morning were outstanding. The breakfasts were gourmet all the way. There was no need to eat lunch with the "no lunch breakfasts". Extra touches such as having muffins to go, beach towels, laundry facilities available, and a nightly gathering with Glenn and Joan, and other travellers, including tea, cookies and great conversation, is something that we will not soon forget. Glenn and Joan were also able to provide us with great suggestions and directions to all the great activities close to the B&B. We especially liked the Ballad of Stomping Tom in Charlottetown. Overall a very memorable, vacation of a lifetime! We were very happy at Country Charm and would have loved to stay longer!

My husband and I and his brother and wife stayed at Country Charm for 2 nights last week. It was a great experience - we all loved the place and would definitely go back. The breakfasts were delicious and Joan and Glenn do everything they can to fill you up to the bursting point! My favorite part was the hot tub in the gazebo. We stayed up late playing games out there and really enjoyed the hot tub soaking. Both of our rooms were spacious and clean, and the pillows were so nice and fluffy! The whole room smelled like clean linen - what a great smell. Murray River and Murray Harbour are small towns, but have ice cream at River Delights in Murray River and eat at Brehaut's in Murray Harbour. Both are good - and seafood chowder at Brehaut's is delicious! Overall we had a wonderful time. Even though Country Charm B&B is a little out of the touristy beaten-path, is is very nice and worth staying in that location. Great price too. Oh, and I forgot to mention they have a nice lake, with canoe, rowboat and paddle boat and it was fun to go out on those. Thanks Joan and Glenn!

The Country Charm B & B definitely lives up to its name! Both the grounds and house are immaculately kept, and the location is lovely (and definitely not as out of the way as a map might imply). Our hosts made us feel welcome from the moment we first entered their beautiful home and provided us with great advice concerning spots to visit on the Island. The breakfasts were delicious and rivalled any other meals that we had while visiting PEI (including several at a few of the Island's most recognized restaurants). We have been recommending this B&B to everyone, and would definitely love to return there again some day!

My wife & I stayed for 3 nights in early July 2008. Over the years we have found that our best B&B experiences aren't determined by the location or the structure but primarily by the hosts...and we can tell you that Joan & Glenn are two of the best -- ever. They will overwhelm you with their graciousness & grand conversation. We felt like part of their family immediately. And the breakfasts...oh my! Glenn is the master of fabulous breakfast creations including killer caramel rolls and strawberry french toast.

Country Charm is located on a beautiful piece of property with its own lake (see picture). You can find solitude and be close enough to take in the Points East Coastal Drive (which Glenn helped to create). Both Glenn & Joan offered up helpful advice as to what to see & where to go for off the path adventures.

We highly recommend Country Charm. You won't be disappointed!
