me and my hubby decided to take a night away, called the dutch inn and got the honey moon suite for 175.00 plus taxes for a total of 202.00. we thought , why not! free parking, free hot continental breakfast, swimming pool, jacuzzi in the bathroom big enough for 2 adults, free wi-fi, and a 3 room suite air conditioned.
when we arrived , i was very excited. i noticed when we pulled up that some room doors were outside while others were inside. it looked as if it used to be a motel turned into a hotel. i didnt care, but i was curious. so when we checked in , i asked the gentleman behind the counter, was this a motel at one time. he said, hotel , motel what is the difference? i said motel room doors are normally outside , while a hotel you need to go inside to get to your room.he said well we have a restaurant and pool, its a hotel. so i just said ok. then he said, do you need to see your room? and i replied "no, why". then he said well you seem to be quite negative about this!!! i said no its fine, i was just enquiring! i felt offended. i dont know why he became so defensive. it was just a question.
we went to our room, which was quite hot. we turned on the air conditioner but it didnt really make the rooms colder, just a small area. the flatscreen in the living room had no remote, and it was hooked up through a vcr to get the cable, there was no remote for the tv in the bedroom and the wi-fi did not work in the room. we notified the front desk about all this. he did find us a remote for the bedroom tv.
things we did not notify the front desk about.
hair in the shower, scum on the tiles of the jacuzzi, several large cobwebs on the window, and the breakfast while free was awful. there was no coffee, the sausages were burnt 1/3 way through, the pancakse coulda been used for hockey pucks, the homefries were so hard you couldnt get the plastic forks through them and the scambled eggs tasted unusual. it wasnt hard to tell that since 7 am when it was cooked, nothing had been refreshed when we got there at 830am. so the breakfast was disgusting.
on the bright side, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were fantastic. and after the first misunderstanding with the front desk clerk, he was quite friendly.
the pool seemed clean and the water was nice, even though they were giving swimming lessons til 8 pm!
other than what i mentioned, i thought the room was tidy and clean in general.
had a fridge and coffee maker, with only 2 pouches of coffee (however we were able to get 2 more pouches when we asked)iron and board, large bathroom with a small stand up shower and 2 person jacuzzi.the bathroom was really nice, cept the hair and scum.
all in all i would not pay 202.00 to stay there again. they shouldnt say free wifi if the signal is so weak you cant get it in the rooms. we were in the first room past the front desk and could not get signal.
