“A little piece of heaven!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012 via mobile

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kindred Spirits. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was maintained clean everyday and replenished with coffee, fresh towels and clean cups/utensils. We had a mini fridge and microwave in our room. We found this to be very practical as we like to pack a picnic for our beach days, so we were able to shop in the local grocery store every 2-3 days.

The beaches nearby go for miles and miles! Our favorite 15 minute drive to Brackley Beach was a highlight every time - the scenery, small bays and quaint homes brought us so much delight. The Inn gave us a national park pass which was included with our room ($50/week savings to us). The pass gave us an opportunity to explore many of the beautiful parks around Cavendish and the north-east coast.

If time allows, we recommend the 1 1/2 hour drive to Basin Head where you will find Singing Sands - the sand squeaks when you gently rub/walk on it! The drive from Kindred Spirits is picturesque and rewarding when you arrive to find white sands, a warm ocean to swim in and a little bridge where you can see the tide come or go.Many people jump into the rolling water from this bridge or from either side of it and enjoy being carried into the tide only to climb the ladders and do it all again. Walking the beaches and collecting sea shells, colorful rocks and on occasion a starfish or mussel shell is part of this wonderful experience in PEI.

The breakfasts at Kindred Spirits were delicious and on the occasion I couldn't eat what was served, the cook scrambled some eggs on my request. There is always fresh fruit (2 selections mostly), a choice of cereal, nuts and granola, yogurt and a buffet with juices of every kind! The grounds are pristine and the little splashes of color here and there offer the most amazing lilies, impatients, geraniums and roses. The trees offer shade and privacy as well as add to the charm of the Inn. We stayed in the gate house, room G for 14 days and will be so sad to leave it.

We will come back!

We had a wonderful time at the Kindred Spirits Inn. My two daughters are Anne lovers, and we truly enjoyed being withing WALKING distance to Green Gables. Our room was very cute with lace curtains and blue floral wallpaper. The Inn had a nice breakfast room with a good selection of juices, cereals, coffee, etc. plus a new homemade main dish each morning. The grounds were pretty with beautiful flowers. The pool was kept at a nice warm temperature allowing us to swim each evening. We did have to drive to the beach, however, the Inn provided a free beach pass. We're already dreaming of returning. We hope to return again.

Upon arriving at Kindred Spirits we drove down The long driveway and arrived at this beautiful inn. Lots of trees and grass. The cottages were very nice and very clean. It is in a great location in Cavendish and everyone was very friendly. What we found lacking was the service and many of the details. We had a cottage that slept 6, there was 4 of us, yet there were only 2 deck chairs. We asked if they had more but they did not. I saw many of the people that drove there brought extra chairs, but we flew in. Twice we had to go to the office to get more toilet paper, seemed the daily stocking of supplies was hit and miss. Office staff were nice but not the most helpful or informed. I believe the owners were away so we may have just hit a "relaxed week". The kitchenettes were not stocked very well, we tried to go buy a kitchen knife because the ones we had were small and dull enough to make butter a tough cut. I could go on but that would be too boring. Just for what it cost expectations were a little higher. The pool was fantastic and it was very quiet and family friendly. I would say it is just below a 4 star. A few dollars spent and a little more informed staff could easily jump this to a 4 or 5 star. We still had a great
vacation and I would recommend
PEI to anyone who loves to travel.

Very nice simple place, don't expect luxury or frills. Our room was pretty small, just bed and TV....others were bigger. Nice breakfast and staff. Cottages seem best for families. Internet was good.

We loved our stay at Kindred Spirits. We booked three nights and we were not disappointed! The location was ideal, and the breakfasts were wonderful! Especially the blueberry pancakes! We booked a cottage and they were so clean! Well appointed and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and this location was right near the Anne of Green Gables house. We would definately stay here again if we were to visit PEI. Do your self a favor and stay here! It is well worth it!

We were looking for reservations on short notice, and the staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. We would definitely choose Kindred Spirits again!

Overall this was a charming place to stay and we would definitely go back. There were some minor things which could be improved which stopped me from rating this as a 5/5 but do not let this deter anyone from booking a stay there as they really were very minor points.

Negatives/Opportunities for improvement - thin walls (could hear noise from lobby as we were in a room attached to the main house), toiletries and creamer for coffee were not replaced (this was sorted when we pointed it out, but it would've been nice not to have to mention it), light bulb in bathroom not working, no name tags on breakfast dishes (this made it difficult to find out what dishes were when they were very busy), odd shower (usable but not the best shower I've been in by a long shot), noisy air con and bathroom fan (couldn't sleep with air con at night and had to keep bathroom door shut if the light and fan was kept on - which I like as I can't sleep in a pitch-dark room).

Positives - DVD library for guests to use from lobby, things were sorted out when asked, warned us that breakfast would be busy so we could time our own breakfast accordingly, conveniently located for 'Anne' attractions and north shore (right on Route 6), charming room, good pre-stay customer service such as email with local info, staff were willing to ring from front desk to book restaurants and find out about local attractions, clean room and common areas, comfortable bed, soft loo paper, jet tub bath, barbecue on the verandah of the room, adequate breakfast selection, free wifi (very useful), friendly and helpful staff.
