“Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We recently stayed at North Winds for a couple of days and I was impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the rooms, especially with the digital tv and the air conditioning. The rooms were very reasonably priced and everything was so well kept. The rooms were so clean - something very important to me and I am hard to please on that score! We would definitely stay there again.

My only complaints are extremely minor ones: the breakfast, while very good, was a bit chaotic and I think the room could use a layout makeover so that people aren't getting in each other's way so much while they are trying to go to the different stations and around the tables. It might be worthwhile to extend the hours as well, so that everyone isn't trying to go at the same time. The other thing was the pool - we tried to go swimming but the water was freezing! My son didn't want to swim in it, and for him to refuse a pool it has to be pretty cold. :)

However, neither of these things would prevent me from enthusiastically recommending the Brackley Beach North Winds to anyone going to PEI. Friendly service, clean rooms, and great value.

Glad to hear you were happy with your stay, and will consider coming to stay with us again. We have several guests who return to stay with us. We look forward to these guests, as it is like having friends stop by for a visit.

We are in the process of changing the dining room, which we realize we have outgrown. We currently have a local woodworker building us new tables, which will take up less floor space, and hopefully make traffic flow much better.

Our pool, we keep between 82 to 84 degrees, and for the health of the pool, this is as high as we can keep the temperature. Because the air temperature in the room is quite high, it does make the pool seem cooler than it is.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We appreciate the input.

We stayed at the Brackley Beach North Winds Inn for 6 nights. We found the room we stayed in was large with a king sized bed which was very comfortable. We took advantage of the bike rentals that are there on site, as well as the new gym equipment located in the upstairs of one of the 3 large buildings on location. We also had a fridge in our room which was great to keep water and snacks cold. We liked the fact that we were close to both Cavendish & Brackley beaches, which we visited every day of our stay for free thanks to the park passes that the Inn is kind enough to have lend to their guests. It's first come, first serve for the passes but was never any problem to get one while we were there. We were only a short drive into Charlottetown as well. We enjoyed a couple of movies at the Brackley Drive-In as well which is only a few minutes away from the Inn. Breakfast items were relatively healthy, including hot oatmeal and Red River cereals, plus other dry cereals, hot boiled eggs, fruit cocktail, yogurt, toast, homemade biscuits, cinnamon rolls, mini muffins, plus tea and coffee. There were bus tours stopping there every night but the front desk staff just advised us to come to breakfast around 7:45 am and the bus groups are usually on their way which was what happened.

We recently spent a week at North Winds and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have stayed at the property several times and love to return. The rooms are spacious, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable. We were very impressed with the recent upgrades in the air conditioning and digital cable television. The air conditioning had absolutely no problem cooling the room and was so quiet you couldn't even hear it run. The breakfasts are amazing. Not only are there the basics of coffee, juice, cold cereal and toast, but North Winds also offers two kinds of hot cereal, bagels, fresh fruit salad, hot boiled eggs and the most amazing home baking hot from the oven! What really makes North Winds special though is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. From the housekeeping staff to the breakfast crew, everyone treats you like family. We are always so impressed with the quality of service that Murray and his wife provide to their guests. Thank you for a wonderful visit!!

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Our return quests do become our family, and we look forward to your visit each year.
We are pleased with our new air conditioning, as it does make our rooms more comfortable, and we now have our wifi working throughout the property.
Thank you for your compliments.

Having been travelling for 5 weeks, this was one of the nicest places that we stayed at.
The front desk folks were helpful and friendly with advice and suggestions.
It was convenient to borrow a park pass for free admission to the park.

The room was large with a bed and sofa. Everything was clean and well-kept.
The breakfast was extensive and the home made goodies were lovely.

We appreciated the laundry, free wifi and cable.
We didn't get a chance to use the bbq facilities, pool or sauna.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Loved how close it was to the beach. (Less than 5min to Brackley). We also went to Cavendish (10-15min) and Dalvay (10min) beaches. My preference is Brackley, it had a longer shallow area which I think helped the water seem warmer.
The hotel room was big. We had 2 Queen beds (we also set up an air mattress for one of our kids). The room is much bigger than normal hotel rooms. The people running the hotel were great too, very helpful. We spoke with a few people there who came back to the North Winds year after year. If we go back East I would stay there again too. Breakfast was included and was good (hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, freshly made cinnamon rolls, muffins and scones, orange and apple juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fruit salad and hot and cold cereals. Other than breakfast there is no restaurant.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We often have guests comment on the convenience of our location. Hope you do come back again. I am sure with only 4 days, you left some of PEI unseen.

We came as a family and spent two nights here. Our room was a suite with a living area that had one bed and a pullout couch as well as the full kitchen, a separate bedroom, and of course the bathroom. It was the perfect space for us.

I had two main purposes in going to PEI--Anne and seeing the beaches. This was the perfect place to stay for this kind of trip. We were only about 15 minutes from Cavendish and the Anne sites, which we did during the day, and in the evening we were just minutes from PEI National Park and the beaches so we could walk and enjoy them after all the businesses were closed. It was an ideal location for our purposes. I loved that we weren't in a town but were more remote as it gave me a better feel for the PEI of the Anne books.

We ate at the Lobster Claw restaurant next door and everyone liked their food. Their dinner plates were big and the desserts were amazing.

Off Portage Road (the road connecting our hotel to the main route back to Cavendish) were both a cheese shop where we got great gouda and the Canadian Soap company which the kids loved since the goats they use to get the goat milk for the soap were all on site for petting and feeding.

The hotel's breakfast was great, I thought. Homebaked goods, hot cereals, fruit salad, and more. If you're looking for bacon and eggs it's not here, but what's here is good. The outdoor seating area off the breakfast room was a lovely place to sit.

The pool was too chilly but with the beach available it didn't matter. The walking trail around the property is great. The hotel also has passes for the National Park you can use (first come first served) which is a great perk.

For what we paid, I couldn't believe we had a room with that much space and a full kitchen. It was an amazing deal. I would absolutely recommend staying here for anyone who wants to enjoy this part of PEI and is looking for clean, comfortable, affordable accommodations. I would come back in a heartbeat.
