We decided at the last minute to go to a wine event in Hillier, a village down the road from Wellington. Ont. We called around at all the places our friends recommended and everyone was booked for the weekend (a still cool weekend in late April). Finally we booked at the Newsroom Suites and we were very happy with our accommodations there. Unfortunately, we only had a short time to enjoy this older building that had been redone with every modcon yet retained an old fashioned feeling (exposed brick walls, claw footed tub, stone washed tiles, wainscotting). The location above a local newspaper office is a little strange but spending Saturday night here means you don't have to cross paths with anyone else during your stay. There are 3 suites here, 2 above the office and I believe one next door. We stayed in Suite #1 and everything was perfect. The bed was very comfortable, towels were plush. The owners really thought of every amenity down to coffee beans and grinder and french press and milk in the fridge to go with it. Nice selection of Canadian reading and light DVD's are available in the hallway between Suites #1 and 2. Strictly speaking, this is not a B&B as breakfast is not provided, so I guess it is just a B that gets A+ for originality. A lovely breakfast can be had at the Tall Poppy Cafe about a block down on the other side of Main Street. It opens at 7 am and has delicious coffee and home baked goods as well as nice egg dishes. Pomodoro, almost directly across the street is a nice place for dinner and there are manty wineries nearby to visit for tastings. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Wellington is a very quiet little town but the suites are across the street from a noisy restaurant...

If you booked your stay online like we did, don't be alarmed when you pull up in front of this wonderful place. No, on the outside it doesn't look like it houses the beautiful suite you saw photos of online, but it does! The suites are perfectly clean, full of amenities, and super cozy. The charms of an older building were welcomed in our suite - slightly warped floors added character! Lacking a bit of personal touch on the weekends when there's no staff on-hand. We were assured they were only a phone call away, but we didn't need anything from them, as the suites were outfitted perfectly and beautifully. I did miss the smiling face of a front desk clerk at times, though.

Location is perfect - stellar dining across the street and only minutes from the area's attractions. Located close to the beach, where we enjoyed morning walks - even in November!

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Newsroom Suites or stay here again. The suite was newly reno'd, spacious and comfortable - and the separate den with door was perfect for our five month old. A few good restaurants just across the street (great breakfasts at the cute and family friendly Tall Poppy Cafe), and its proximity to wineries and Sandbanks, made this a great spot all around!

We stayed for one night while visiting wineries and Sandbanks beach in the area.
This hotel has only total of 2 suites consisting of a bedroom ,a sitting /TV room with a leather pull out couch, kitchen and a bathroom, everything top notch and high end. The place was very clean and bed almost too comfortable for my taste. There is a supermarket next door .The kitchen has a coffeemaker, toaster, microwave and a fridge, as well as coffee, tea, milk etc.but no breakfast served on site. I would recommend the newsroom suites for anyone visitng the area.

Kathleen ensured we had a great stay in Wellington. She was courteous, prompt and very helpful. The Newsroom Suites are very well located - in the centre of little Wellington, across the street from the town's two main eateries. The suites themselves are two in number, above a newsprint shop. They were much larger than I expected, tastefully decorated and bright. The bedroom was very large, with an extremely comfortable king sized bed and a lovely view over the street. The den/tv room was a nice touch as it rained and we ended up staying inside as opposed to walking around Wellington as planned. The kitchen included a small fridge, glasses, champagne flutes and other utensils that made enjoying local wine stress free. A perfect choice for enjoying local wineries, as most of the big and small-scale producers were within a 15 minutes drive of Wellington.

I must apologize for my very late review, but I thought...better late then never right? We were 4 women and 1 very little girl (under 1 year) that needed a place to stay while touring in PEC. When we looked around it seemed that many of the B&Bs were geared towards couples and a few wouldn't accomodate children, so when I came across Newsroom Suites, I thought we were saved! The Newsroom suites was a gem of a place to stay. Since we were travelling during the off-season, it took quite a few attempts before getting a hold of Kathleen, but once we connected, it all went smoothly from there. The location worked very well for us being closer to some of the better wineries in PEC. Not to mention we were right across the street from a really great restaurant (East and Main Bistro).

The room set up was truly perfect for us. Between the 5 of us, we shared both of the suites thereby having the place litterally to ourselves. There is a den in each suite with a pull-out sofabed and doors for privacy which allowed us all to have our own bedroom. The main bedroom was very spacious. The bath was quite pretty. Each suite also has it's own kitchenette stocked with some thoughtful amenities such as coffee beans, a grinder and coffee maker which was perfect for a fresh cup in the AM. We had everything we wanted to complete our two night stay. Breakfast was not included with our stay, but there was an amazing place walking distance away called Tall Poppy Cafe - we had our breakfast there both mornings.

Thanks to Kathleen for being so helpful with our questions and more than understanding when our youngest member of the group had a small spill.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone - but especially for a girlfriend getaway!
