We live in Northern Ontario and decided to stay at this new hotel. We chose it because it was very close to Wonderland and because of the pool with the waterslide. Everything seemed to be ok until we got back from wonderland around 8pm and wanted to watch TV. When I go to a hotel there are 3 things I love to do.... relax, order a movie, and order room service. With my sister taking care of my kids in the pool my husband and I finally had a couple hours to unwind.
We turned on the TV and it made almost an explosive noise and then went black. I pressed the on button again and it 'popped' and a few letters appeared on the screen....but no channels. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. Ten minutes later a rather unfriendly repair man came in and fixed the problem for us and everything seemed ok. I ordered our dinner and we got ready to watch TV. I then pressed the button to order movies and nothing happened, I then couldn't change channels at all! I called the front desk again and the repair man came back at the same time that our meal was being delivered. He brought us a new remote and left and we tried to order. We finally ordered a movie and it was very grainy and the picture seemed stretched since the TV was rectangular (widescreen). I called the front desk again and they informed me that they were sold out and could not move our rooms and couldn't help with the TV problem.
The TVs themselves were not very good quality and they are marketed as 26" high definition, so we were upset. Especially since we enjoy staying at new hotels with plasmas, etc, upkeeping with the new technology. This was not one of them.
The hotel itself is beautiful but dont expect any technological breakthroughs. It's very 'old-school' but GREAT for families that don't need much technology. GREAT pool and GREAT giftshop (we ate so many snacks!).
Would rate it 2 out of 5 stars for the amenities, and 4 out of 5 for family-friendlyness.
