“Not worth the drive to Port Colborne”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Don't drive out of your way for this restaurant. Had the shrimp pastas-cheap supermarket shrimp
with bland sauce. Over-priced and over-rated.

First of all, as a business owner, it is so important to make sure your customer leaves your business happy and satisfied. Not being given an opportunity to do this is really a problem, especially when that customer writes about their unhappy experience.
If you did not like your pasta (our raw shrimp are 16/20 and not available in retail stores) then you as the consumer should say something. Our shrimp pasta dish is made with fresh tomatoes, herbs and spices...it is not a canned sauce, so sometimes, the tomatoes are not as ripe as they should be, and require more seasoning. We would have been more than happy to redo your pasta or allow you to make another choice rather than have you leave unhappy. To say after 1 tried menu item that people should not come to our business after you did not allow us to recitify the problem is totally unfair. Have you never gotten a bad hair cut or cold fries or undercooked steak at any of the regular businesses you frequent? You have most likely gone back again, without posting it on Trip Advisor....we would love for you to give us another chance...

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

This is the second time we have totally enjoyed this restaurant in Port Colborne, Ontario. We were again with friends and had lunch there on August 31. The waitress was extremely pleasant and attentive. The food was extremely good and we raved about that very fact. I have to say that it is probably the best lunchtime meal I have had in a restaurant anywhere. I heartily recommend anyone in the area give it a try.

“Wonderful Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We had really great service; attentive - visit to the table from the owner and his wife. The waitress was great - and I thoroughly enjoyed a very tasty meal. My husband had the filet mignon special - said he could cut through it like butter. Generous portions - wish there were a few more heart healthy items on the menu - but beyond that - really, really good. Will go again (and then hit the treadmill).

“Mediocre food, unaccomodating owners.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

My husband and I are both residents of Port Colborne. We are both ex-hospitality industry workers (one chef, one cook), and take our grub pretty seriously. The first time we went to @27, we went for lunch with no reservation. The table was nice, our server was pleasant, and the food was adequate; my steak was medium and not medium-rare as requested, and the food lacked seasoning, but it was all right. As always, we left a massive tip. We love our little town, and are always glad to see another restaurant opening here - we support local businesses first.
The next time we went, again for lunch without a reservation, it was twenty minutes before the restaurant's posted afternoon closing time - they close between lunch and dinner. I don't remember the time, but I DO know it was 20 minutes before afternoon closing. As soon as we stepped in the door, we were told that lunch was no longer being served.
This was also the LAST time we went. We were shocked that the restaurant would turn away a table more than fifteen minutes before closing time. Believe me, I totally understand what it's like to have tables come in when you're trying to prep for dinner or close the kitchen for the night, but we were there DURING OPENING HOURS. If @27 doesn't want customers showing up between lunch and dinner, perhaps they could flip the 'open' sign to 'closed', or take in the large sandwich board outside that says 'open'.
@27 could have had seated and served us and they would have had us as customers for the duration of their existance. Their behaviour (it was one of the owners who turned us away - it's a small town, so I know who they are) has ensured that we not only never go back, but also tell other locals of our experience.
