The restaurant has a both a main floor dining room and an upstairs Bar with appetizer service, the latter a god-send in the wait to get into what is one of the best Italian restaurants in any country, including Italy. No reservations here, but we didn't care, on this our second visit. The artistry of the chef-owner shows itself in every dish of exquisite and uniquely fashioned pasta (handmade daily), one-of-a-kind seafood dishes, luxuriously prepared veal and chicken, complexly interesting appetizers. Chef David and sous-chef George are passionate about what they do, and have made Bistro 54, located in a town 50 miles from a major centre (Ottawa) into a destination restaurant. And, service works in a certain special symphony that we have not seen elsewhere, each server seeming to know exactly what is happening at every table.
Bistro 54 is decidedly an eligible candidate for "Where To Eat In Canada".
