“Perfect Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2010

Stayed at the Russell Manor on the recommendation of a relative while visiting in the area.
It was the perfect retreat even for the one night - quiet, peaceful, elegant, and tasteful....a beautiful place, Owners were professional, personal, informative and good fun. Breakfast was beyond any we haev enjoyed at a B&B or Inn.
We will return and will (and have) recommend to friends.....a lovely country house manor in the town!

We discovered the Russel Manor quite by accident. My husband and I were planning a get away weekend and tried to book into the MacIntosh Inn which we usually stay at. They could only accommodate us for one night but recommended the Russel Manor. After viewing their website we made a reservation for Saturday night in the Riverview Suite. After a full day of walking at Upper Canada Village we set off to find the B & B. What a delight when we drove up to it. We were greeted by Ron and I felt like I had know him a while - very friendly and down to earth. Our room was amazing and I fell in love with the soaker tub which was a great way to relax after a day of walking. We spend a very quiet evening in our suite just relaxing. The next morning we met Michael who served us our breakfast and again - I felt like he was a long lost friend. The food was amazing. Fresh fruit, juice, coffee, homemade scones and a vegetable omelet. Very filling. We will definately be back the next time we are planning a get away. Thanks Michael and Ron and of course Ralph...

Beautifully restored victorian manor house offers the finest B&B experience you could imagine. Actually, you can't imagine this place until you've seen it. No expense has been spared in this manor's antique decor. The beds and bathrooms are clean, fresh and offer luxury you won't expect in any B&B.
Breakfast was a fresh chopped fruit bowl with mint and fresh baked scone, asparagus (local) omlette, O.J. and excellent coffee.
The restaurant on the ground floor, offers a fine dining experience comparable to the best restaurants in Ottawa and Toronto, with out the hefty price tag. This place won't disapointe the foodie.

We visited Russell Manor B&B in August 2009 as part of a weekend cycling trip along the Recreational Waterfront Trail along the St Lawrence. We would highly recommend it for cyclists since the owners provide a secure bike lock up. Rooms were beautifully furnished and clean. Breakfast was a special experience with stately home-style dining, we were served a delicious fruit salad followed by a mushroom omelette and homemade scones.

The Russell Manor Bed and Breakfast in Morrisburg is a completely wonderful experience from check-in to check-out. Arrival to Morrisburg, an anassuming community on the St. Lawrence River, in December does not prepare a visitor for the treats in store during a stay at this beautiful Victorian home.

Making a reservation at a Bed and Breakfast, sight unseen, can be a risky venture at times, but from the minute we rang the doorbell and were greeted by Ralph, a mild-mannered standard poodle, and then one of the manor's owners, Ron, we felt that we had arrived at the home of old friends. Every room of the downstairs is warm an elegant. Every place the eye rests, it finds some charming decorator detail to admire. The foyer, decorated for Christmas, was adorned with a life-sized peacock, and careful attention to the other rooms revealed several of his family members tucked into unexpected places. We were not surprised to learn that Michael, the co-owner, is an interior decorator.

Our guest room with en suite bathroom included the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in and the thickest comforter we had ever slept under. The in-floor heat in the tiled bathroom floor was just another unexpected treat. In spite of the antique appearance of the room, everything was immaculately, shiny clean and fresh. The house's understated color scheme of creme and gold and taupe, accented throughout with unexpected color, was carried into the guest rooms.

Upon our return from our visit to Upper Canada Village's Alight at Night festival, we were treated to the Manor's signature cocktail and one of Ron's wonderful desserts, a walnut pineapple cake --- the recipe for which cannot be found on the Manor's website--- we asked!. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and served in a formal but gracious and friendly way. The fresh fruit, douple ginger scones, and asparagus frittata, accompanied by ample juice and coffee were a feast to the eye and the palate.

The owners' attention to detail in decor and in service have assured that we will be looking for an excuse to return to Russell Manor.
