“Kelso mountain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Nice big conservation area with a boardwalk overlooking Lake Kelso, beach area, play area, camping grounds, picnic sites, boat launch. Very accessible from the highway
Last picnic experience - we booked area #3. There is a steep climb, long walk to bring your stuff
Suggestion: they should allow cars to load and unload inside the road leading to the picnic sites. Currently the road is blocked and no vehicular traffic is allowed. This will help the elderly and disabled picnickers.

“Nice change from Bronte and other parks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Spent a great day at Kelso Conservation Area. Being the long weekend, went early 10am to get parking at the Beach area and a picnic table. There are a lot of steps from the parking to the beach area (which is very small beach area...grainy but kids can make sandcastles anywhere).
Lots' of kids and big families BBQ, enjoying the water, sand and sun. I would recommend this as a nice change to Bronte Park for the sand and water. Bring your picnic lunch, the snack shop was limited. however, the washrooms and change rooms stayed clean for our visit. Took the time to move over to the boat rental area in the afternoon. Rented a canoe for $19/hr - 2 adults and 2 small children (under 60lbs) or 3 adults. Great way to spend a Sunday.

“A great place to spend an afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Kelso conservation area has something for everyone year around. In the summer you can bring a canoe or kayak and paddle a fairly large man made lake, explore some great hiking trails to the top of the escarpment, mountain bike, swim and. picnic In the winter there is skiing and snow boarding from easy to fairly challenging. There are tows snow equipment rental on site. Try and bring what you need so you won't be disappointed.

“Sand is stoney”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

The sand is very grainy/stoney has sticks, is hard on the feet. The beach volleyball area is a little better, probably cleared out by players over time. Lots and lots of children in the small swimming area, there are some kayaks for rent if you walk around the lake to the right

“Quiet summer , busy winter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

It's gleneden ski park in the winter and Kelso in the summer, the scenery is picturesque in the summer, well organized pedal boat/kayak rental, nice beach, great for family with young children, like it more in summer than winter...
