“Lovely Brunch in the Country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Our family of eight had brunch here on Boxing Day. Wonderful selection of fresh, cooked, and baked foods. Breakfast dishes, bakery items, carved meats. So many breads available in so many ways. All staff members we encountered were friendly and professional. It's amazing how foods like this can be prepared and ready just one day after Christmas. There must have been a lot of cleaning and baking going on during the night. It had been ten years since we were at Elm Hurst, and it looks like they have expanded the dining area. It is lovely, with cloth napkins, large tables, and spacious chairs - chairs that are real dining room chairs, not those cheap ones like you see at the Chinese buffets. The desserts were so good and tasted like they were fresh baked and appeared that way too (esp the white chocolate cake.) The children always love the chocolate fountain. There was a fireplace and beautiful tall Christmas tree in the front reception room where we relaxed for a while and took family pictures after dining. Yes, it is expensive when you go there on a public holiday. Last year we went to Delta London Armouries, but Elm Hurst has the better meal and atmosphere by far.

“Good night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

We went there with friends. Our fifth time their first. Great as expected by our foursome. Worth trying for fine dining. Seated in a very small room with only two tables. A table for four and a table for two. Not the greatest atmosphere.

“This review based on 3 visits!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We have been to this restaurant 3 times in one year. We have eaten lunch in one of the dining rooms at the front, had drinks on the patio and dinner in the other dining room at front, and most recently had the Dickens Buffet. The best meal and service experience was the dinner. The soups and salads are wonderful, with fresh "home grown" ingredients. Portions are more than adequate, and prices reasonable. We are not usually "buffet" people, and were just going to have a lunch when we went to the Inn on the 21st of December, but once we saw the offerings on the buffet, we decided it was worth a try, for $19.99 per person. We did not like sitting (as a couple) in the larger room at the back, and felt a bit like we were in a fishbowl with other large groups of people around us. (we did have a reservation). It was also very cold! The salad and soup bar was my favorite part of the whole meal. There was 2 hot options.. turkey or beef. Since we were just a few days away from Christmas we decided to have the beef, which was a mistake as it was very overdone. When our server asked us how we were enjoying the meal, we told her the beef was dry. She said "Yes, I noticed that.. its too bad as Prime Rib is one our specialties" and that was that! The dessert table was replenished regularly, and even though we were there at the tail end of the buffet, we still had more than enough choices. Unfortunately, the 2 servers that were assigned to that room started moving tables and setting up for the dinner service (and having personal conversations) while we were still there. It made us that it was their way of telling us it was time to leave! It also seemed odd that with the tables set with linens and with the ambiance of the Inn, we would have to use flimsy paper napkins. The server said that was their "lunch policy". We also expected the Inn would be more decorated for the holidays. Next time I would make a reservation around the availability of a front dining room table.
