“Relpy to TT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

After reading TT's comment I was reluctant to keep our reservation on June 1st but at the urge of my husband we did like he said we should make our our opinion, and we are glad we did, first let me comment on the green salad that she referred to for $15. well the price was $12 and she or he failed to mention that it has a poached pear candied nuts and blue cheese and a homemade dressing, it was delicious. The room is small and intimated I wonder how anyone could sit there for 1 and a half hours and not anyone noticing that nothing was brought to you table. Never at anytime did we fell that they were trying to be a Quatafoil, they are truly Bella's. There is a wide variety on the menu capon, beef, pork, veal, pasta and that evening duck was a feature , I had the duck 8oz and my husband had the Veal Chop 14oz wow, both great and price well you get value for your money they have many wines in the $45 to $60 range I was to full for dessert but my husband had the carrot cake homemade rustic and delicious. Service was prompt and professional we talked to the couple at the next table and it was there 4th visit and said it was there new favorite place. So I recommend that anyone wanting to visit it will be well worth it. Everyone exaggerates but it seem so more then other.

“New owners, new upgrades, new prices”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

The restaurant has been nicely redone and is very modern. The menu is somewhat limited and prices are about 30-40% over market rates. Mixed greens salad appetizer was $15 for example. They have Quatrofoil prices but they are not Quatrofoil. The food was very good but not in the realm to justify the premium price. Service was extremely slow. It took 1.5 hours to get salads alone. Expect to be sitting for three hours or more for a three course meal.

There is potential here but there will be some growing pains. I think they have only been open a few weeks.

The Philip Shaver House is a very good intimate Restaurant. They don't have a large menu but what they have is always excellent.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012 via mobile

We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a Bed & Breakfast owner. A small restaurant (24 in main room and a private function room about the same size). The food was supurb, ambiance excellent (a old 18th century home) and service was first rate. The exterior is unassuming. This is a real hidden gem well worth the visit. We will go again when next in the area.

“Nice place for an intimate dinner.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

This is a very nice place for couples to have a quiet intimate dinner in an old victorian house. The decor is turn of the century. We were greeted at the door by our waitress dressed in attire to compliment the atmosphere. The wife had beef medallions and I had beef wellington and both were very good. This was the first time we went here and would return again. Call for reservations as seating is limited.
