By shear chance, we stumbled on the Olde Lantern Inn - and boy are we glad we did. Alan runs an inn that is the perfect combination of country charm and luxury/comfort. The rooms are great - large, whirlpools, individual a/c, and great beds. The breakfasts are delightful and filling. And it sits right on the Grand Pre vineyard in the lovely town of Wolfville. Make sure to try the restaurant at the vineyard (a peaceful 3 minute walk through the vines) for its great food and good wine.

There's plenty to do/see around there (e.g., hike to Cape Split), but make sure to carve some time to get a good book, head the winery, and sit outside and while away an afternoon (oh, and try the wines while you're at it ;-)

My wife and I prefer staying in college towns when we explore and found a gem in Wolfville and the Olde Lantern Inn. Although the Inn itself was built within the last ten years, the owner used reclaimed wood that gives the house character. Hardwood plank floors are adorned with quality rugs and tasteful furniture. Rooms look out onto the vineyard (just a few feet/meters away). The owner is a pleasant guy who makes an excellent breakfast. The Evangeline trail is worth exploring. There is a lot of British and Acadian history along the route and Wolfville is a great location to base yourself.
