“Wonderful Night!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

This is your perfect country B&B - not too fancy but with lots of character. The owner, Jill, welcomed us and answered all of our questions about our local entertainment and dining choices for the evening. She also helped us locate the beaches in the area and hiking trails in the Mabou Mines trail system. Breakfast was much more than I expected and included several items from which to choose served buffet-style. We had a wonderful conversation around the breakfast table with the other guests and then it was off to drive the Cabot Trail. Wish we had booked another night.

This B&B has been tastefully restored. I particularly like the soft and soothing pastels in each bedroom along with a matching quilts. The bathrooms are wonderful with very nice fittings and all the bathrooms are en suite so that you do not have to leave your room in the middle of the night. We used the sitting room which has a fridge for guests and a tea cart with a wide selection of teas. This is a well run and inviting location from which you can explore the local music and scenary.

Room Tip: We enjoyed Room No. 1 which has sand dollars print sheets and quilt in pale blues and yellows.

This historic B&B is located in a secluded glen next to a river. The setting is wonderful as is the well tended house. The owner is friendly, welcoming and full of helpful information. We had eggs, ham, scones, juice, fresh melon and berries, yoghurt, granola, toast, tea and coffee served buffet-style for breakfast - more than ample. Make sure to walk the labyrinth in the back yard. Also nearby is a wonderful hike in the Mabou Mines area to the "Look Off" that Jill, the owner, told us about. Of course, The Red Shoe Pub is also a must and about a 5 minute drive from the inn.

Lovely heritage house in a quiet setting with the Glendyer Brook running through the property. We had our best sleep on this trip in the comfortable beds with lovely linens. The huge country breakfast was more than expected. Make sure you take a walk on the TransCanada Trail that borders the property and follows the stream. Will return next time I am in the area.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Mabou and The Inn at Glendyer was a large part of our enjoyment of the area. The inn is located in the home of "Donald the Dyer" who brought the first industry of wool carding, spinning, weaving and dying to the area. The home has many nice architectural touches and Jill, the owner, has made the rooms comfortable and charming with lovely quilts on the beds. We enjoyed a lively conversation at breakfast with the other guests in the formal dining room. The buffet breakfast had lots of choices and kept us satisfied until late in the day. Definitely stop in the Red Shoe Pub and listen to some traditional music. Jill advised us on local beaches (surprisingly warm water) and local hiking and walking trails.

I have stayed in most of the lodgings in Mabou over the last few years and this B&B is by far the best in the area. At the same or lesser price, it has nicer bathrooms which are all en suite. Other lodgings have a shared bathroom or the washroom is outside of your bed room. The Inn at Glendyer has all on the bathrooms within the bedroom and they each have an air jet hydrotherapy tub. The breakfast is also by far the best with a wide selection that includes ham, eggs, scones, toast, fresh fruit platter, yoghurt and homemade granola. Other locations have a cold continental breakfast or a smaller set breakfast with no choices or you have to pay extra for breakfast. The hostess is helpful and friendly. The down side is that it is one mile down a gravel road - as are many houses in the area. However it is only a few minutes from the Red Shoe Pub, Glenora Distillery and the Brook Village and Mabou dances. I always get a restful night's sleep in the comfortable beds. I would definitely suggest this to friends and family.

Room Tip: Room No. 3 is my favorite as you can hear the creek.

This was one of the smallest rooms we ever had. I felt very cramped. The bathroom, however, was large and had a hydrotherapy tub. The towels were thick and big. The breakfast was buffet style and adequate although the eggs were cold. There is a one mile dirt road leading to the inn. This is an OK place but that is about all.
