“The Point Cottages - simply the best!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We rented The Point Cottages by the Sea’s three bedroom cottage for the four of us ( 4 related women in our 80's, 70's, 60's and 50's) for a full week and were absolutely thrilled with our stay. The location was ideal for the many hiking trails in and around the Ingonish area. The view of the ocean from the cottage windows and three decks was spectacular. Most evenings as the sun set we either walked along the beach or the trail along the coastline that were right out the front door.
The nearby Fresh Mart grocery store offered an ample selection of frozen local seafood and fresh produce making picnics and dinners prepared in the cottage’s well equipped kitchen a pleasure. Fresh towels were supplied every second day, the rooms were always clean, and the beds very comfortable. There were days when we were happy to simply soak in the view and ocean sounds from the comfort of the front porch. A day didn’t go by without one of our group thanking me for booking the Point Cottages by the Sea.

We spent 3 nights in the Harris Cottage (36) in June. The cottage has been completely renovated and is modern & beautifully decorated. There was not a mark on the painted walls! The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size fridge, stove top, sink & microwave and all the utensils you could need. The queen size bed in the separate bedroom was very comfortable with lovely bedding. The bathroom came with fresh smelling and very soft towels. This cottage has a deck view of the harbour with lobster boats, beach, Middle Head and Highlands in the background. From the front door you can see Ingonish Island and the ocean. The large property is on a point with lots of beautiful vistas. Rates for the cottage were extremely reasonable.

The location is a very convenient base from which to explore the incredible hiking trails & coastal scenery of the eastern side of Cape Breton Highlands National park. We particularly enjoyed the Coastal, Franey and Middle Head trails. There are several very good eating spots close by. Seagull restaurant is a short 5-10 minute walk from the cottages and has great food and ocean views from the enclosed patio. Coastal Waters restaurant, a short drive, also has excellent food and one of the best seafood chowders of our trip.

We would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful maintained family owned property. The manager, Rhodena, is very pleasant and pride of ownership is very evident.

Our two bedroom cottage (#38: Iona) was excellent. It was perfectly clean and well maintained. Price was more than reasonable and location is ideal. The staff were friendly and great to deal with. We look forward to returning next time we're in Ingonish.

We stayed one night in a two bedroom cottage. It was very clean, up to date and in good repair. When we arrived we were greeted by the manager and she was pleasant and helpful. However, for us, the very best part of this stay was the view of the ocean - we were right on the shore and the sound of the waves and gulls was enchanting. We could have stayed there more than one night - maybe next time!
