“Clean, tidy, small, good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2009

We arrived early to the motel on a stormy day and were able to check in without a problem. We were warned of how tiny the bathroom in the first room was and it was tiny indeed. We were happy to be warm and dry and relax so a small shower wasn't a concern for us. The beds were quite firm but the room itself (floors, ceiling, lighting) is newly redone and we had satellite t.v. to keep us occupied. Very good value. A light continental breakfast was also available but we chose to get on the road instead.

Comfortable beds, clean spacious room & a great location. Owners were friendly & helpful. Blueberry muffins were great. Just a few minutes from restaurants, shops & the Cabot Trail. Would def stay again.

We stayed two nights at Merry's.Based on TA reviews it seemed the best option in Cheticamp.Rooms are simple but adequate and very clean. Suzanne was very pleasant and helpful when we checked in. It was very good value as a breakfast of toast and muffins with preserves, tea or coffee and apples and bananas was included in the price. The owner 'hovered' around us whilst we were eating which was a bit disconcerting.

Merry's Motel is set behind the B&B, and easy to miss unless you are looking carefully. The picture on the website does not really show that the motel is across the street from the ocean, and the B&B blocks the view of the middle units. The double room we had was spotless, with very basic furnishings. Beds were hard, and the walls were thin. Thankfully, our neighbors went to bed fairly early. The room is very bright, even at night, as the windows only had thin cotton curtains, so if you need a dark room, stay elsewhere. The friendly owner served us homemade blueberry muffins with coffee or tea, and fruit for breakfast. A good value for the price, but not sure if I would stay there again.

We stayed at Merry's Motel last year for a couple of nights when we did the Cabot Trail, very nice, clean and great breakfast

We did enjoy the ginger cat greatly, I was looking at pictures from the trip last year and reminded myself about the cat and wondering if she/he is still there. We have a cat at home so she made us feel right at home.

This year our main trip was the Canadian Rockies, absolutly beautiful, next year Alaska.

This is a very nice spot to stay, especially if you want to tour the National Forest. The motel rooms were bright, cheerful and spotless. The owner, Suzanne was most friendly to our small dog, unfortunately, she did not understand Americans that drink 2 mugs of coffee at breakfast, felt a little uncomfortable. The breakfast was very nice with home made muffins, toast, fresh bananas and apples. We would stay here again. Two good restaurants in the area are All Aboard and Homekitchen. Both offer good food at reasonable prices. This is where the "locals" eat.

This hotel looks older from the outside but was as excellent as many Trip Advisors have said that it is. It is operated by two Swiss ex patriots and is one of the cleanest hotels or motels that I have ever stayed in. It is located in Cheticamp, just outside the spectacular Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia so it is somewhat remote but the town is interesting from a historical prespective. We went to LeGabriel restauant just up the street for dinner and were impressed. Merry's has an excellent continential breakfast. Beds were comfortable. No pets or smoking. Less than $100 Can total for a wonderful motel as long as you aren't looking for a place with a pool and facilities (after a long day in the National Park, the comfortable beds were most appreciated).
