“Great stay and wonderful breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We stayed here in October for one night. The place has an amazing piece of land overlooking Cheticamp and the ocean. The hotess, Veronica, was extremely friendly and helpful. She clearly loves what she does. There were three of us and sharing a bathroom with one additional guest was not a problem. Breakfast was outstanding. Value was very good overall and I would not hesitate to recommend this place, in fact I would consider making this a "home" base for a longer stay in the Cheticamp area. There is amazing hiking nearby, whale watching and I'm sure so much more to do in the summer. During our night in town which coincided with the Celtic Colours festival, there was live east coast music in the restaurant we chose.

Very nice place to stay. The view was beautiful and close enough to town. The breakfast was amazing...we had blueberry muffins, bacon and eggs cooked to order and great toast. The lady running the place was so friendly and warm. She gave great suggestions forst time visitors. Was recommended to us by friends and they were correct a great place.

The B&B itself is located a few miles from the town center, but the views are beautiful. The place was clean and breakfast was delicious. Veronique was friendly, helpful and a great person. Conversing with her was entertaining and her knowledge of the area and its history, including things to do, was second to none.

If you're looking for a great place to stay and enjoy all of what Cape Breton has to offer, then look no further. Veronica and Giles have a wonderful B&B right on the Cabot Trail with a view to die for!
The rooms (we had a room with a private bathroom) are absolutely wonderful - very clean & tidy. Anything you need, they are there to help, wether it be something for your room or where to go and what to see in the area.
As for breakfast, well, you can't ask for more. They treat you like family - no, better than family. The food is wonderful - cooked perfectly with lots of choices. And the fresh-baked blueberry muffins are the best!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Room Tip: You can choose rooms with shared facilities or private - both are excellent.

We stayed here in early August for one night. Veronique was very helpful with park information and also directed us to a lovely concert of local music. She was able to give our gluten-free vegetarian daughter options for breakfast. We had the downstairs rooms, and they were really pleasant (not at all smelly, like one reviewer said). There is a shared bathroom, but that worked out fine. The park area around Cheticamp is glorious, and despite rain in the morning, we saw two cow moose! (Corney's Brook Trail). A very nice B&B

Room Tip: The downstairs rooms worked for us, since there were three of us. Veronique gave us a special price...

Stayed in the room not facing the montains (small room with shared bathroom) but was really empressed by the view in the dining area. Good location just steps away from the Cape Breton national park entrance.

This place has a lot going for it. A secluded, expansive property with a wide open, elevated view overlooking Cabot Trail, the sea and Cheticamp Island. Sunset color displays lasted more than an hour. Our queen bed was roomy and comfy, with adequate floor space. Roomy, clean bath and handy small kitchenette with hotel-size fridge (could use ice trays). One strange quirk: the wall switch to our ceiling fan/light also controlled another fixed ceiling light. So to use the fan overnight for sleeping, I had to remove the bulb from the fixed light. Luckily there were plenty of other lights and lamps. Single window meant no cross-ventilation, but the fan was quiet and the room stayed comfortably cool during our 4-day visit in July (once we turned off the heat-generating dehumidifier). The best part of our stay was our hostess and her dining room. Veronique is lively, unstuffy, and competent. Breakfast is cooked to order; any combination and quantity of hot items (bacon, eggs, french toast, pancakes, muffins, toast) as well as cereals, fruits, jams, etc. There's a generous, relaxed seating-time window at a large table surrounded by windows. The service is fast and the food is great. The experience was the closest I've come to staying at a favorite family member's house. Veronique's knowledge of the area and her activity suggestions are comprehensive. Slow her down and ask questions to get more precise details on those that interest you most. Otherwise you'll be dizzy with info, if happily so. I may never make it to Cape Breton again, and I already miss my new "old friend" who delighted five couples with her morning attentions before taking time to celebrate her birthday. Merci, Veronique.
