“The little cafe at the end of the universe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

I am a little biased because I know the folks who run the Frog Pond, but I have to say that there is simply not another coffee and pastry shop that offers such quality products in such a perfect atmosphere. I am there quite a bit and I hear the comments from the travelers around me that they were looking for something beyond the chain coffee shops of Nova Scotia (you know who your are) and finally found it at the Frog Pond. Great expresso and pastries made by a local baker who really knows his stuff. The perfect morning or mid-afternoon pick-me-up. While you are there, check out the folk art gallery next door. All in all, a perfect break spot on the Cabot Trail.

“still the best coffee -”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

Ok - this is still the best coffee and sweet in Chetticamp (and anywhere on the Cabot Trail - and arguably the best pastries in North America)
AND
this year they have a screened in cafe area - so you can go there on chilly days (which we don't seem to be having this summer).

Did I mention the wonderful Folk Artist next door??

“Perfect coffee in a perfect spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

The frog pond has become as important to summer in Cheticamp as sunshine!

Always a breeze blows through the cafe, Mike plays the Celtic harp and lovely pastries await you. This is a place to stop and truly enjoy life!

Chat with barista Claudia listen to the frogs sing. You will not regret it.

“Good cappuccino, good pastries”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

Stopped for a mid-afternoon cappuccino. Finding a place serving cappuccino on Cabot Trail is rare (couldn't find any in 6 days); surprised to find a good cappuccino in such of unassuming place. The pastries are good and fresh as well. Worth a half hour stop for a good coffee if you're on the Cabot Trail in Cheticamp. Friendly and good service; for example I was asked if I wanted chocolate or cinnamon on the cappuccino.

“Best Coffee on the Cabot Trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

The Frog Pond is a hidden gem. Half way between "downtown" and the entrance to the park, you have to drive past Tim Horton's to get there, and most people make the mistake of fueling up at Tim's rather than pressing on with the hopes of better fare beyond. DON'T DO THIS! Nestled in with a great folk art store, overlooking an actual frog pond, the Frog Pond provides well-brewed Fair Trade coffee (drip and espresso), fantastic locally-made French pastries (who would have thought that Cheticamp has a resident master French baker, but it does), and a variety of teas, specialty sodas, and artisanal breads by the loaf. Coffee is served from a cute little hutch, with covered outdoor and (new this year, I hear!) indoor seating right beside it. There's often live music. The barista, Claudia, is a local favourite: a vibrant and loquacious German who fell in love with the town and is happy to tell you all the wonderful secrets that kept her here. If you want to meet locals, especially the younger crowd, this is the place to go. Or, if you just want to a coffee to take with you into the park, there's no better place to stop along the trail.
