“A gem of a bakery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Fresh croissants on the Cabot Trail, among many other delicious baked goods made on site. The scones are amazing too, light and buttery. A range of wholesome breads. A mandatory stop before entering the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Yum.

“Cinnamon roll heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Croissants weren't my favorite, but the cinnamon rolls were a big hit. Stop by to stock up before entering the park

“Nothing special - but beats the supermarket”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012 via mobile

This place seems to be suffering from the hype. If all you expect is a local bakery, it is just fine. We were looking forward to real French bread and were disappointed. The bread is not at the same standard as a real artisanal French bakery. For example, the crust of French 'pain' is supposed to be crunchy - here it was soft, and indeed they seemed to have intended it that way. But it beats any supermarket, so if you want bread, why not get it here?

“Triple chocolate brownies!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012 via mobile

I love brownies and normally most bakeries don't get them right. This place does. The triple chocolate brownies are perfect. I also loved the caramel delight squares. Blueberry scones I think had oats in them which made them taste different from the usual scones I've tried-- they were great! In comparison to other postings, the young staff member we encountered was very friendly and answered all my questions to help me choose from all the pastries. The only negative was that it was exceptionally and uncomfortably hot in there. I know it's a bakery and the ovens are all going at once, but there must be a better way to ventilate it. They had some windows open but they were doing nothing. The smell of baking bread calls you from the parking lot.

“Great baked goods, coffee only so so”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Great breads and pastries, lots of choices and all fresh. Friendly service....but the coffee was just barely OK.
