Definitely recommend this venue. It is not a true B&B; however, if you choose a room in the main building, you will likely enjoy the same experience as being in a B&B where the venue has four guest rooms max and the owners live on the property and guests may cross paths in the common areas or while breaking bread at breakfast. We did not stay in the main building as we had chosen to book in to one of the cabin options available; Cabin #4 at the end of what I affectionately referred to during our stay as "the end of the road" ... literally, as the road ended at our cabin.
Our cabin enjoyed a peaceful relaxing view of the grounds as well as Bras d'Or Lake while being nestled in to the trees at the end of the road offering maximum privacy. We opted to have the hot tub as well for an additional $10/night and it was worth every dime. It is a portable hot tub as used on boats and was just perfect for the two of us at the end of the day. The cabin itself came with a kitchenette complete with dishes, cookware, fridge, stove, and even a BBQ on the deck. Open concept sleeping and living area with full windows to view the grounds and then down to the lake ... far enough away from the road to avoid the sound of the vehicles going by on their way in to Baddeck proper. Full washroom with tub/shower. We choose not to have breakfast in the Inn; however, that was an option for a small additional fee.
John, the Innkeeper, is a very personable fellow who ensured he was on hand to great us upon arrival as well as share some information with us about the area while sitting on comfortable deck chairs enjoying the view. After getting to know us a bit more, he recommended a couple tours that might be of interest to us and I can definitely say that he hit the nail on the head with his recommendation for the Amoeba sailing trip on Bras d'Or Lake as well as the Cabot Trail drive through Cape Breton. Both of us being phone company employees we just had to tour the Alexander Graham Bell Historic site which was very humbling indeed to see what all he and his wife accomplished as well as their peers/students.
Totally recommend this. If you are not sure which of the various venues available at the Inn would suit your needs best, just give John a call and he will help you determine what might work best for you and the rest of your travelling party and will only be a phone call away while you are there should you need to reach him.
