“An unexpected experience and unique place to stay the night on the Irish Loop!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

Carol, Pat, Maureen and Margie made us feel right at home! We were treated to a very personable experience. The Wexford room was small, but faced the ocean and the bed was super comfortable. Very clean and modern facilities in a character/heritage building. The snow crab leg dinner they offer is fantastic..Carol's salmon ravioli course was so good! Our one night there was very memorable..A big hello to Deb and Deanna who were staying there as well..we met new friends!

Thanks for joining us here on The Irish Loop! Making new friends makes travel all the more memorable. Margie and Maureen as well as all of our staff are absolutely invaluable to Carol and I and they help make The Claddagh Inn what it is!

Cheers, be safe.

We were looking for a nice B&B during our recent driving trip through St. Mary's and found The Claddagh Inn. It is a beautiful B&B nestled up on a hill overlooking the water. The owners are warm and welcoming to their guests. The house is beautifully appointed and makes you feel right at home! We sat for hours reading and relaxing in the living room on their very comfy couches! The food was awesome! Breakfast crepes were homemade and delicious! Dinner was exceptional as well with the owners providing us with freshly caught lobster! Prices for the B&B and the food were reasonable (b-fast included in the price). They have a fantastic bar area in the house and you feel like you stepped into Ireland when you walk in the room! If you are a scotch drinker you will happily love this area what with variety of special Scotches lining the wall! It was not busy when we visited so we had our pick of rooms. We wanted a room with a view of the water so we took a cozy little room which later we regretted giving up on a bigger space. The rooms are decorated very nicely and the bed was comfortable. If you go, pick a room with a little more space to move around in! We enjoyed our stay here very much and would recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Pick either the largest room or one of the rooms with a view of the woods behind the house.

I stayed at The Claddagh Inn last weekend, and I wish I were there for this weekend. Newfoundland hospitality at its finest from awesome hosts, Pat and Carole, and a friendly welcoming community. If you have the opportunity, you simply must stay here. My husband and I will be going back.

Room Tip: Rooms in front have a sea view.

Thanks so much for your kind words! Carol and I had so much fun preparing for the event last weekend in fact, all our staff were directly involved with preparations! I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves and we are looking forward to seeing you again!

My husband and I and another couple actually stayed at the Claddagh Inn back in June and even though I am only getting around to writing this review now I have meant to for months! In short this B&B was amazing, the best that we stayed at while we were tourning Newfoundland!

The Inn was extremely comfortable and the bar was a great touch, but what really makes it special are the owners Patrick and Carole. From the moment I called to book our rooms they made us feel like family. They are so warm and friendly and Patrick even kept the bar open late for three of the four of us (our pregnant friend unfortunately couldn't partake in the fun). We had a great time talking with them and hearing about how they came to own the Inn and its history. The crab dinner is also something that was absolutey amazing! Highly recommended and Carole makes a mean dessert!

Our one regret is that we only stayed one night, had we know what the experience would be like we would have stayed for several! All in all we cannot recommend the Claddagh Inn enough and will definitely be staying again our next trip to Newfoundland!

we were running all over the rock and stopped in here for an evening. very friendly proprietors made us feel welcome and served a delicious multi course dinner. we mostly kept to our room after supper as we were quite tired but with how quiet it was we wouldn't have been able to tell there was more than just us staying here.

We very much enjoyed Patrick and Carol's hospitality during our one night stay. Patrick is my favourite inn owner in recent memory. We were treated to a few stories of the area by Patrick after dinner - he's a great story teller. Patrick offered to make suggestions for things to see in the area the next day. If we had more time, I would have loved to stayed another night and made visits to his suggested sights.

The season's quota on the crab was reached with 2 last dinners to other guests that night. We were not disappointed with the alternative though. The pork tenderloin was so good and the portions generous. We paid $30/each for our 4 course meal, one of the best meals on our trip. We had a few Screech and cokes that night, and were pleasantly surprised at the good prices on the bill the next day.

This place is what you expect of a good hotel, but from a guest house.
No complaints whatsoever. The hosts Carol and Patrick were really friendly and talked to you as if they had known you for years.
The rooms were very comfortable and immaculate. The food prepared by Patrick at night and Carol for breakfast was very good and tasty.
It is recommended to stay here. It is so comfortable and a home rom home.

Thank you Patrick and Carol for this.

Room Tip: If you get one of the bay facing rooms, the view is excellent. A little road noise in the morning, b...
