“Don't look any further in Rocky Harbour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2012

I stayed here at the beginning of May for 2 nights, prior to the holiday season starting.

The bedrooms are very comfortable and well equipped. My bedroom had a King bed with super comfortable bedding and mattress. The whole room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was not only clean but looked as if it had just been fitted.

Breakfasts were excellent, and I was extremely impressed that we got breakfast on the second morning as we had a very early start. This helpful attitude was reflected throughout our stay, including coffee when we arrived each afternoon.

Just read the other reports and you will get a feel for how good the Wild Flowers is. It is definitely worth paying a bit extra for, especially when you see the condition of some of the other B+B/hotel properties in the area.

Book in advance - if you don't you will struggle to get a room during the holiday season. If you do get a room you will certainly be happy with this B+B.

Room Tip: Book in advance - the King suite on the first floor is super roomy and looks out over the harbour.

The Wild Flowers B & B was beautiful and oh, so comfortable. We were drawn in by the nice porch out front where we sat and sipped wine, listening to the night sounds of early May. The room we had was so comfortable, had lovely wood floors and wood walls and just beyond the hall had a nice shared sitting room that looked out on to the water. The entire place was beautiful and homey, with warm wood interior. The breakfast was great--eggs benedict--and fresh fruit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The owners were very friendly and accommodating, made us feel very welcome. Owner also suggested a place to eat--where we had lobster dinner and very enjoyable evening. Great place and we will stay again next time we're in Newfoundland!

Room Tip: All the rooms looked great. We got to choose which one we wanted, as we were the only guests that n...

Yes, we had Eggs Benedict for breakfast. There were other choices as well, though. The Wild Flowers B&B is extremely comfortable and clean. Our room had a very nice view of the bay. And there are many, many flowers. Just a beautiful place. Not only that, it is only a few steps from Jack's Java Restaurant which is really super.

Smiling welcome and wave from owner as I arrived later in day. Spacious, tastefully maintained to provide quality, character and warmth. Wood floors shining, decor creative with cozey, 'family' feel. View of harbour alluring. Recommendations for places to eat, locally and things to do. Large dining area drawing mix of travellers, interesting origins. There's an efficiency cottage too but the front room I had with large bathroom next to quiet den available to all, was all I needed. Many comforts considered in den: choice of books and magazines, table to sit and enjoy beverage. Small fridge. Delicious full breakfast, even Eggs Benedict (oh my!). Lovely launch 'pad' for hiking in Gros Morne, walking the coast and driving. Near Deer Lake (45 mins) but far enough away to enjoy the fishing village atmosphere. Enjoyed thoroughly.

Room Tip: Front top room had great view, quiet and cozy.

We really enjoyed our 3-night stay at Wildflowers. Wildflowers is not typical B & B but much more like a small country inn with breakfast included. We had a large room with king bed at the top of the stairs. Room was massive with separate sink and WC area. Here are a list of the things we LOVED about this place:
1. The sitting room at the front of the inn upstairs which contained a little fridge (that one could chill their wine in) and freezer (with individual ice buckets in it that were constantly replenished.)
2. Hot and cold filtered water and tea and coffee supplies available in the sitting room (that you had access to without intruding on other inn guest or the owners.) This room also had available up-top-date menus from all the local restaurants. Room also had corkscrew, glasses, nice area to sit, amenities to make you feel relaxed.
3. A computer with free internet access and printer so you could actually print colour maps, directions, tickets, boarding passes. The house also has internet access, but we don’t travel with our computers so having access to this computer was just what we needed.
4. Breakfast was great (beautiful eggs Benedict) and fruit was a great addition. This was very much appreciated, because when we travelled around Newfoundland we found it difficult to obtain fresh fruit and veggies outside of the densely populated areas. So we realize that it must take some effort for this establishment to offer fresh fruit, seeing as Rocky Harbour does not have a grocery store and they are an hour away from the city. The only stores we could find were what we would consider convenience stores and not full grocery stores. Breakfast rooms were also very nice, where you could have an individual table if you wanted, or you could share with others if you desired.
5. Room contained plenty of towels, soap, wine glasses, TV, closet, and good bed. We felt that nothing was lacking.
6. Nice walking distance to other restaurants, pubs etc.
The owners are doing a good job keeping up this inn to standards. We really enjoyed it and felt for the price found that it was one of the nicest places we stayed in Newfoundland.

Room Tip: Ask for Upstairs!

The three nights we spent at the Wild Flowers Inn were very enjoyable. Our room was quite large and very quiet. The sitting room was a great place to sit with other guests and discuss the day’s events and dinner plans. The breakfasts were always a treat. It was a super place to base ourselves while we explored Gros Morne.

Can't add too much to the above. It's definitely a find. The house is the most charming one we saw in the Gros Morne/Northern peninsula area. The accommodations were also very charming and very comfortable. The owners gracious, the breakfast excellent, what more can you ask? It was easy to find, quiet but central, Java Jack's down the street offered the best meals we found in either Gros Morne area or northward to L'Anse aux Meadows. Of course good fish etc.., but also fresh salad and veggies from the garden out front.
